Happy New Year!!

Wow!  I can’t believe that it’s 2012!  This year has just zipped by so fast.  I know for myself, it’s been a year of growing and maturing.

Today has been filled with kleenex, Tylenol, and naps.  I opted out on going to church as to not pass this nice little bug that I have caught.  You know, one minute you can’t breathe and the next you have used an entire box of kleenex.  Between naps there have also been movies…..The lineup?  Rocky I, War of the Worlds (Tom Cruise version), and JFK.

Yesterday , for an afternoon snack I had a bowl of cereal.  I haven’t had cereal in such a long time and it was SO good!

The milk I used was Skim :)

Last nights dinner was my dad’s famous chili and it was just what the dr ordered….

I used a small bowl so that I could keep my portion down, and added some cheddar cheese on top.  After my bowl of chili, it was time for sleepy land.  And that is how I brought in the New Year!

Do you remember the commercial where they used this big nose??  I think it was for some sort of sinus medicine??  Anyway, that is exactly what I felt like when I woke up this morning.  I am the worst at taking medicine, but knew I needed something to take away the pressure.  Within 30 minutes of taking something the pressure was gone! Ahhhh :)

This morning’s breakfast was so good and it really hit the spot.

Scrambled eggs, one slice of turkey bacon, and one mini whole wheat Thomas bagel.  I also added some organic blueberry jam to the bagel.   This was probably around 8:30.  At 12:30 I was a little hungry, but didn’t really want much, so I went with a smoothie that included; Almond milk, frozen banana, frozen blueberries, flax, chia seeds, and peanut butter.

Here in the South there is a tradition that you cook black-eyed peas on New Years Day for good luck.  It’s something that my parents have always done and this year was no different.  My dad also made some cabbage and corn bread.  Yum!

I hope that you have had an amazing 2011 and that you are planning for an amazing 2012!

  1. Sorry you started the New Year being sick! That cereal was my favorite ever before I found out my stomach was sensitive to gluten. I’ll still eat it sometimes though because it’s so good. About your question on the increased appetite while training: Mine does the same thing!! While I was training for Boston I got a lot better at eating more vegetables, drinking more water, and always trying to have a little bit of healthy fat and protein with every meal. Those things helped with the hunger monster.
