When all else fails…..

….Have breakfast for dinner!   Today was probably the longest of the entire week!  I couldn’t wait to get home today!  :)   We were really, reeeaaallllyyyy busy today and I really don’t remember any of it!  Lol.

The day started with my alarm going off at 5:00 am and then turning it off.  Hehe.  I did manage to crawl out of bed around 6:15 and hit the floor running.  One of the things that I had to do this morning was put some fresh water for the outside dog.  Bless his heart it’s SO hot out there!!

Once I got to work it was all business!  Well, sort of.  I was in an exceptionally great mood today.  It did get kind of hectic when our system went down a couple of times late this afternoon.  Let’s just say I was glad to get into my car to go home!

I walked in the door and changed into my workout gear right away.  I love how a workout always makes me feel!

Breakfast:

I had some leftover Kodiak pancakes that I had in the freezer, so I heated them up and added some White Chocolate Wonderful, chia seeds and some SF syrup.  This was SO good!

I did manage to get some fruit in today!

Apple anyone??

Dinner:

After my workout I did a couple of things around the house and worked up a major appetite!  When all else fails, eat breakfast.  1 egg, egg whites, spinach, two slices of Canadian bacon, 1 slice of provolone cheese.  Um Um Good.

What now??  Hmm??  I am not sure, but I really just want to relax.  I started that new Nicholas Sparks book and I am really liking it, so I might just read for the rest of the night.  I just want to tune things out for a bit.  Ever feel that way??

I need to get caught up on reading my favorite blogs :)

Later!

Thank goodness this week is….

Over!   It’s been one heck of a week.  With that said, it has gone by pretty fast.  Ever have one of those days when you just want to lay up in bed and sleep until you catch up on your rest??  I am right there!!

Remember the puppies??  I was able to get in touch with a rescue that would take the puppies, but she couldn’t pick them up until 9:30 or 10 last night.  It was 10.  :)   But it’s really ok……We wanted to put these little ladies in touch with someone one that will find them their forever home.  Welp, we feel that we did that.  As I type this, they are probably getting their first round of shots!  These puppies were the cutest and had the best personalities.  We said our goodbyes and then it was back home!  I think that I got home around 11:15.  Which isn’t really that late, but I started this new book and wanted to read a bit.  Um, I am not sure what time I went to sleep.  :)

The book??

Nicholas Sparks: Safe Haven.  They recently started filming this movie that will star, Josh Duhamel and Juliane Hough.  Exciting!!

Ahh pictures.  Lately, I have really been thinking about why I post all of my eats.  Do I really want to post them every day??  Or, just when I eat something new??

Yesterday’s lunch:

Banana/Cherry Smoothie

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup of frozen cherries
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 2 scoops of Visalus
  • 1 cup of Almond milk

Yum!  As always!

So there are SO many movies out right now that I want to see!  Any that you guys are wanting to check out?

I think that one of the reasons my mind feels so scattered is because my job requires decisions to be made throughout the day.  The entire day.  Which isn’t a bad thing at all.  I really like it, especially when I can work out a problem, figure it out, explain it to the customer so they can understand it, and ultimately walk out the door feeling better.  Does it always happen like that?  No, but that is ok too.  Since we are down a couple of people, that makes it seem like we are a little busier.  What happens when we are busy??  More decisions!  It has been hard to turn my mind off at night.  :)

What am I doing tonight??  Hopefully resting.  I will however be getting in a workout, preparing for my Sunday School lesson, having dinner, getting in some quiet time (yay!!), and then bed!!

Random thought that just came into my mind!!   Did anyone watch So You Think You Can Dance Wednesday??!!  They chose the final 20 and I can’t wait to get the show started!!  Once they were chosen they were able to perform and I don’t even know which one was my favorite!!   I loved them all!!   Especially the hip-hop routine!

Got to run and get ready for work!!  I hope you have a fabulous Friday!

Busy week!

So I forgot my laptop at work yesterday, but to be honest not having it at the house last night was kind of nice.  I could have used my phone to look around, but I also took a break from that too. :)

It’s Wednesday!!!  Thank goodness!  My boss has been on vacation this week and I am ready for her to come back!!  Mostly so that I can have a lunch break.  ;)   The start to the week was pretty hectic.  Monday was INSANE.  I met myself coming and going!  I have felt like I have forgotten to do something ALL week and when you deal with other people’s money, that isn’t good!!

I am not even sure where to begin or what I even want to post about, so I am just going to keep typing.  Lol!  I really am looking forward to the weekend.  I don’t know about you, but Saturdays are the best.  I am also looking forward to being at church and I haven’t felt like that in a long time.  If you have been reading my blog, you know that I have struggled with a few things.  You can read about it here.

One of the things that I have been working on is finding a home for these little ladies…Actually, my mom is the one that got me in touch with the lady that is helping us.

Aren’t they sweet!!!???   My friend Diahann and I have been calling them Lucy and Ethel.  We didn’t find them a home, but there is a rescue place nearby that we are going to be able to get them too.  I WISH that I could keep them, but I can’t.  Of course if we keep too much longer I will!!  We are making sure that putting them down is NOT an option and that they have to go to a good home.  I feel confident that the lady we are dealing with will do that.  It’s funny, when I got the e-mail that a rescue place would finally take them, I was sad.  :(

Eats:

I have also failed in the picture department as well.  I have eaten really well this week thanks to motivation from Maren!  Go read her blog!  The lack of pictures can be blamed on the business.  :)

I finally added the chocolate to the lemon yogurt snacks!  Um….one word.  Delicious.

The breakfast above is from yesterday morning…..it totally hit the spot!  1 egg, egg whites, spinach, two slices of canadian bacon, and one 90 calorie english muffin.

Today’s breakfast:

Overnight oats!! Yum!

  • 1/2 cup of cooking oats
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp of white chocolate dreams nut butter
  • almond milk

Mid-morning Snack:

Cherry dark chocolate Kashi bar and a yummy mocha!

I feel scatter brained this week, so please forgive the randomness of this post.  ;)

Blog question:

I went thru and deleted a lot of pictures the other day and noticed that when I delete them, it also deletes them from that post.  Can this be avoided??  Or, is there another way to do it?

Thanks in advance!!

I hope you have a great rest of the day!!  Check ya later!

Summer snack!

Morning!  I hope that you had a great weekend!  I was so glad to be in church yesterday.  God’s word never fails and it certainly pierced my heart yesterday.  I wasn’t actually going to be there, but I am so glad that I was.  I had been thinking of a certain passage in the bible all weekend and saying to myself, “I just want to worship in church and not care about what others are thinking or what their opinion is of me. “In spirit and in truth.”   And you know what??   The verse was part of the sermon!

I have had some really low thoughts of myself lately.  Some, I think, may have something to do with what is going on in my body, but some are just thoughts of not being good enough.  I already conclude that someone is going to reject me before I meet them.  Crazy I know, but the thought is there.  The last couple of years have been tough for me spiritually and having these thoughts only magnified that.

I am done however, worrying about what people think of me.  What people think of me has no baring on what God thinks of me.  He doesn’t consult someone elses opinion of me before He makes His decision.

John 4:24 “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

I got to set with some special people this morning…..Hey Bro Joe and Mrs. Sherry!!  Love you guys!

I was so excited to try this new recipe that I found on Courtney’s blog, Sweet Tooth Sweet Life.  She used blood orange chobani greek yogurt, but I didn’t have any of that flavor, so I tried the Lemon.  :)  She also used Orange Cremesicle granola, but all that I had on hand was Udi’s honey flavored.  Another great recipe for these little jewels can be found here:  The Lean Green Bean.

  • 2 Lemon flavored Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup of Udi’s gluten-free granola

Mix both ingredients and then put into a cupcake pan (I used a small one) and then freeze until they set!  They kind of tasted like a key lime pie!

I also had an amazing salad yesterday, for lunch.

  • lettuce
  • spinach
  • roasted turkey
  • strawberries
  • roasted almonds

I was going to add a hard-boiled egg, but completely forgot!

Workout:

To be honest, it’s been really hard to get back into the swing of things with my workouts since my vacation.  I have strictly stuck to running or walking this past week due to my body acting a little weird.  I have had absolutely NO energy what so ever and getting thru a workout has been a little difficult.  I even tried to get thru an Insanity workout and it was a no go.  :(

Today I thought that I would try to do some strength training.  I put in Jillian Michael’s No More Trouble Zones!  I felt really good while doing the workout, but I was really shaky.  In fact, when it came to plank moves I could barely hold myself up!!  Crazy!!

Breakfast:

(recycled photo)  I had 1 egg, egg whites, spinach, half a turkey link, and one tortilla.

I hope you have a great day!

Your Metabolism and You.

It’s funny, as I type this, I am not sure what I want to say.  Ever have that feeling?  My brain feels overloaded and I don’t even know where to begin!  I went over to my brother’s house last night to hang out with them and help my SIL roll our vacation bible school money…..and of course see the munchkins.  ;p   They’re the best.  They really are.  Sometimes I find myself just looking at them and feeling so proud of who they are and who their parents are and really just all the great things that I know they are going to be a part of.  :)

Your Metabolism and You:

One of the things that I have really wanted to get more information on is my metabolism.  The older that I get I know that things are going to change, so finding out how to deal with it properly now is something that I want to do.  Some days, I feel like I am going out of my mind.  Other days, I feel like my old self.  I am such a head first kind of person that sometimes I do before I read directions.  This isn’t always good.  Some of the food and exercise decisions I have made in the last few years haven’t always been the best.  I just do and don’t research.  This can only work for so long and then your body starts to kind of freak out.  Well, mine does. :)  There are several other factors that at this time I am not going to discuss, mainly because I am not sure of what is going on.  When I started my weight loss journey my metabolism got this super charge and completely did this 180!  Now?  I think that my metabolism has started to slow a bit.  Do I like this?  No, not really.  :)

There are several ways to increase your metabolism naturally and I wanted to share my findings….

  1. Eat breakfast.  Ahhh, I love this topic.  It’s my favorite meal of the day and you can eat just about anything!  But what should you be eating??  The best breakfast should have a balance of complex carbs (they break down slower), proteins and good fats.  For example: 1 egg, 1/4 cup of egg whites, veggies, whole grain toast.
  2. Coffee.  Now this just warms my soul. :)  Although I think that I drink too much coffee, the caffeine is a stimulant and can increase your metabolism.
  3. Drink cold water.  Your body has to warm itself up after drinking the cold water, which in turn increases your metabolism.
  4. Eat protein.  When you incorporate protein into your diet, it helps develop lean muscle mass.  Muscle burns more calories than fat does, even when you are at rest.
  5. Green tea.  Green tea contains a plant compound called ECGC, which promotes fat burning.
  6. Dairy.  Calcium helps your body metabolize fat.
  7. Spicy!  Eating spicy foods can actually cause your body to burn more calories.
  8. Interval/Tabata style workouts.  For example:  Sprint/run for 20 seconds and then rest for 10, do this 8 times and bam!  Amy Dixon has a great tabata style DVD out!
  9. Strength training.  When it comes to strength training, take it slow.  When you release your muscle after doing a certain move, slow it down.  This tears the muscle that you are working more, but you can burn more calories while your muscles repair themselves.  Remember it is important to not hurt or injure yourself when performing any work out.
  10. Fish oil.  This is something that I have never thought about taking.  Fish oil increases the activity of the fat burning enzymes in the body.
  11. Eat omega filled foods such as; tuna, salmon, and sardines.
  12. Skip the second drink.  Alcohol slows the metabolism.
  13. Get to bed early.

Edited to add Disclaimer:  I am not a doctor or a fitness expert.  It’s important to listen to your body and to know what does and doesn’t work for it.

Breakfast:

I got this recipe from Monica’s blog Run Eat Repeat!

  • 2 slices of whole wheat/grain bread
  • 2 eggs
  • dash of salt
  • dash of cinnamon
  • dash of vanilla
  • 1 packet of truvia

Mix all ingredients into a bowl, except the bread of course, and then soak the bread in the mixture.  Take a muffin pan, spray with cooking spray, and then squeeze em down in there.  I baked at 350 just until they were brown.  It does not take very long!!

These were SO good!!

I also used some sugar-free maple syrup.  :)   The recipe also calls for a cottage cheese/riccota mixture, but I didn’t have any.  It is on my list though!

Got to run!  Have a great Sunday!
