Don’t forget to drink your water!

Morning Sunshines!!   Can you believe it!?   It’s nearly July!   I had this whole post typed up last night and ready to put up this morning and when I hit “save draft” it just disappeared.  I couldn’t believe it!   Computers.

I worked yesterday, which wasn’t bad at all and to be honest, I am so glad that this last week is over.  It was a busy busy week.  I wanted my Saturday to be kind of low-key and for the most part, was.  I ended up being like five minutes late because I was sweeping off the leave that had built up on the back porch.  You would think it was fall just by looking at them!!  We have had 100+ degree weather for a while now.  It’s hot.  It’s humid.  It’s crazy!

After work, I ran a friend home and then went home myself to change for some friends wedding.  It was a really pretty wedding and they both deserve to be happy!  I came home after the wedding and didn’t really want to do much, so I didn’t.  :)  I grabbed my book, Safe Haven, opened it up and started reading.  Ahhh, this was SO nice.  I read for most of the afternoon!  I really am loving this book!   It’s weird, something really traumatic happened to the girl character in the book (that has never happened to me), but I feel like I am reading about myself.

Safe Haven:

When a mysterious young woman named Katie appears in the small North Carolina town of Southport, her sudden arrival raises questions about her past.  Beautiful, yet self-effacing, Katie seems determined to avoid forming personal ties until a series of events draws her into two reluctant relationships:  one with Alex, a widowed store owner with a kind heart and two young children; and another with her plainspoken single neighbor; Jo.  Despite her reservations, Katie slowly begins to let down her guard, putting down roots in the close-knit community and becoming increasingly attached to Alex and his family.

But even as Katie begins to fall in love, she struggles with the dark secret that still haunts and terrifies her…..a past that set her on a fearful, shattering journey across the country; to the sheltered oasis of South port.  With Jo’s empathetic and stubborn support, Katie eventually realizes that she must choose between a life of transient safety and one of riskier rewards…….and they in the darkest hour, love is the only true safe haven.

Now, you are probably going….”oh great, another love story.”   But it isn’t like that at all…..well, it is, but it really is a good read so far.  I normally like to read mystery or suspense, but I have had this book for a while now and since they are filming the movie in North Carolina, why not!?

Saturday’s Breakfast:

For times sake, I ended up going with a smoothie!   And a sunrise!

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup of frozen blueberries
  • 1 tbsp of chia seeds
  • 1 square of 86% dark chocolate
  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • 2 scoops of Visalus
  • 1 LARGE handful of spinach

My lil man at the wedding :)

He will be leaving today to go spend a week with my parents, who live part of the year on the road doing retired people stuff.  ;)  They deserve it though!!

Today’s workout:

I really wanted to go for a run today, but it is really hot.   I have a treadmill, but as you guessed it, it’s outside.  Hmmm, what to do??  I love the Tabata style workouts, so I might just do Amy Dixon’s DVD.  60 minutes!  Man what I wouldn’t give for an elliptical.

Breakfast:

So far I have only managed to get this down..

Um, Um, good!

Goals:

I have some mini-goals that I really want to accomplish for the month of July, but I will be putting them into their own post.  One, I have already started on and it seems to be going rather well!

Don’t forget to HYDRATE yourself!!  This summer is turning out to be a brutal one!

I hope you have a great day!  I am off to get ready for church.  :)

  1. I feel like I’ve read that book before….maybe…sometimes they run together in my head! lol! I just finished reading The Devil Wears Prada but I think I like the movie better than the book–you can SEE all the fabulous clothes! Looking forward to seeing your mini-goals and a big high-five for getting your workout on! Summers are especially challenging for me cause this weather makes me want to sit in air conditioning with a tub of ice cream! haha!
