First run in a month…

Hello!!  I trust your day is going well??  My day started at 4:00 this morning, yes, I said 4:00.   Apparently that is what time cats get up.  I didn’t get the memo.  🙂  So, I tossed for about an hour and decided to just go ahead and get up.

Workout:

The Firm Bootcamp Maximum Calorie Burn.   It’s nearly a full hour of a mix of cardio and strength.  Once I finished and completely cooled off I headed to the kitchen for the overnight oats that I had put together the night before.

This is probably one of my favorite meals for breakfast.

In the mix:

1/3 cup of old fashion oats

1 tsp of chia seeds

1 tsp of ground flax

1 tbsp of wheat berries

1 cup of, half chocolate lite soy milk/vanilla almond milk

1 spoonful of All Natural Peanut Butter

Here’s what you do:

Put all of the above ingredients in some sort of container with a lid that you can store in the refrigerator overnight.  Once you are ready to eat in the morning, all you have to do is grab a spoon and give it a stir!  It’s so good!!  And perfect after a hard workout.

My afternoon snack at work today was my usual.  I almost don’t want to post the picture…..almost. 🙂

Strawberry Greek yogurt with granola.

I don’t think I have told you the story of my running experience and I really won’t bore you with every detail.  🙂  I started back in the summer and had worked up to being able to run 6.5 miles.  If you knew me, you would know that this was HUGE for me.  Somewhere along the way I pulled a muscle, or two, in my stomach.  I kept working out, and it kept getting worse.  I went to the Dr. to rule a few things out and then ultimately made the decision to not run for the entire month of December.  Well, today was my first day back in my running shoes.  I went to the track that is at our local highschool to give it a go.

I ended up doing just over 2 miles and I had to walk run to get my legs under me.  It did feel pretty good to run again.  While I was there this dude and his dad, or maybe it was his coach, got on the track to do some sprints.  I told the young guy, “don’t let me intimidate you or anything.”  It was funny……to me.  🙂  He did laugh though.  Is it just me, but don’t you just hate running knowing that you butt shakes??  Maybe it’s just me??  lol!

Once I got home I was pretty hungry and went with one of my favorites…

Thomas English Muffin, with a banana, and peanut butter.  Super cool combo!  I also had a shadow. 🙂

Sweet girl!

Lynn (SNL) came by to pick the kids up and we got to talking about the trip this summer to South Dakota.  We are getting pretty excited about it!  Just some of the places that we are planning to see are; Wounded Knee, Custer State Park, Badlands National Park, Crazy Horse Memorial, Mt Rushmore, and so much more!  There are also a couple of coffee shops that I am hoping we stop at too. 😉  I can’t wait!

    Can you believe that I’ve only had overnight oats ONCE!? I did it about 2 years ago, but wasn’t too crazy about them so haven’t done it since. I think I’m just a warm oat person 😦

  2. YAY for the first run back!! super excited for u! 🙂 was the stomach issue all gone? was it ur psoas that was causing you problems…that’s a really deep stomach muscle that can be irritating to runners.

    yumm, looks like ur noshes so far are tasty! hope ur day is going great too and once again remember to stay so proud of how far u’ve come and know that also u’ve got so much more to accomplish too! 🙂

    • Thanks Cait! I am not sure of the name of the muscle, but if you were looking at me it is to the left of my belly button. It did pretty good today, but I still felt a twinge afterwards. The first time it started to hurt it caused my abdomen to swell! But it felt SO good to run again!

    I’m so proud of you! I started back running today too. It was NOT easy, but did feel so good. I’ve needed to get back but just haven’t had the energy. I miss you! Keep up the good work! Hope to see you soon!

    The stomach thing could also be caused from something you ate…all sorts of things upset my stomach! Ha, maybe that is just me.

    Haha I hate running because I know my butt shakes a little. 😉 And I don’t like running on tracks when intense people are there. It totally intimidates me. I’m so glad your back to running!!

    • lol! I felt so awkward every time that I would run past this guy and his dad. Not really sure why, but I did! It could have been that he was running super fast and didn’t have any body fat at ALL. It’s crazy that our minds play that trick on us!!

    I read your vacation news post and just realized where your going on vaca lol you won’t be far from where my brother lives!!!! Mt Rushmore is practically in the backyard of his in laws house!!! Can I be a stowaway so i can see my brother lol jk!!!
