Well, hello sunshine!

on January 12, 2012

Thank the Lord the sun came out today!  This makes me happy.  Nearly three days of rain will put a damper on the ole attitude, if ya know what I mean.

Ever have weird dreams??  Well, somehow I was Bella from the Twilight series last night.  Spent most of the night running from vampires.  I think it had something to do with the fact that a couple of the ladies at work were talking about Breaking Dawn.  Crazy.  Great, I wonder if Jacob and I are dating now??  😉

After work yesterday, I headed to the track to run.  On the schedule was 3.2 miles, but only tweaked out 2.52, with 9.05 pace.  My legs felt heavy.  Very heavy.  It was also very cold.  The weather finally remembered that it was winter.  🙂  How in the world do runners deal with a runny nose??!!

I tried something different with my dinner last night.  I made some quinoa and added the following: salsa, turkey burger, and black beans.  Holy moly it was good!

I also added some shredded cheese to the top once I was ready to eat.

With all of the vampire chasing in my dreams last night I must have turned my alarm off in my sleep, so there was NO time for a workout, but will do BodyRock day 8 when I get home tonight.  At least I think it’s day 8.  😉  I can’t wait!  I can’t say it enough.  I love getting my workout done first thing in the morning.  It really gets my day started and blood going!

For breakfast I went with something besides an egg….

I went with a Thomas English muffin and added some nut butter, banana, and chia seeds.  This combo is a no-fail breakfast.  I love it!

I had one of the ladies that I attend church with (Hey Mrs. Brenda!!) ask me today if I just eat the same thing everyday.  After looking over some of my posts, I really do!  That is something that I really want to work on.  So, I have decided to find at least 5 recipes (that I can fix for one person) to make that are different from what I have been eating.  I am a creature of habit, so we will see how this plays out.   With that said here was my snack for today:

Strawberry Dannon Greek yogurt

Lunch today was really what I had for dinner last night, but instead of the turkey burger, I added chicken.  I am in the process of trying to finish some of the groceries I have, before I make a trip to Whole Foods this weekend.  My favorite thing to do.

It was just as good this time around!

Deep moment alert:

This week is truly been an emotional week for me.  I feel my workouts have been all over the place and I just feel off a little bit.  I haven’t really talked about it much on the blog simply because I wanted to keep it separate.  My church has been going through this process to prepare us for a new pastor and to be honest, it’s been kinda tough.  Emotionally and spiritually.  I am having to work through a few things that I didn’t think I would have to.  I don’t think they are necessarily bad things, just not what I expected.

With that said, I better get back to work!  Have a great rest of the day!!

  1. i hope u feel better! i know how it can be feeling ‘off’ or like you’ve got so many things/stressors rolling around in your brain you feel like you’re going to go crazy!! i hope u have a person or place to vent and that can help a lot.

in terms of ur workouts though, this is going to sound kinda weird, but are u sure u’re eating enough? (please don’t roll ur eyes and get offended like i’m trying to be a ‘mom’) it’s only because a lot of times wat can happen is that when people start to increase their workouts sometimes they don’t realize how much more energy their body is burning. especially as a runner, plus u’re gaining more muscle mass and that requires more energy in itself. sometimes it’s crazy how much of a difference a little extra snack can make if u’re feeling weak on ur workouts.

oh, and cold weather also makes me unhappy to run in!! haha…do u have an awesome pair of running tights?? they works really well! 🙂

  2. Lol…I would not get offended from advice like that! 🙂 The last time that I started to run I put on some weight, so I am wondering if subconciously I am not taking in enough?? I eat at least 4 meals a day; three regular and one snack. I also try to include as much protein as I can, but that isn’t always the case. Running also makes me crave junk food!! Or maybe it’s the carbs. I can go through a whole day and my stomach not growl. Any suggestions would be awesome! I love your blog by the way!
