Some of my favorite things….

Probably one of my favorite things to drink are the smoothies that I make.  I L O V E them.  Well, I don’t really love them, but I like them a whole lot!  🙂  I wanted to give you a break down of what I put in them and the nutrient facts of each item.  Ready??  Cool.  🙂

Frozen Cherries:

Nutrients found in Cherries

  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin A
  • Bioflavonoids
  • Ellagic acid
  • Perillyl
  • Anthocyanins
  • Melatonin

Health Benefits of Cherries

  • Help fight cancer
  • Aid in prevention of heart disease
  • Relieve Pain of Arthritis, Gout, Headaches
  • Ease the symptoms associated with Fibromyalgia Syndrome
  • Provide a healthy and safe way to produce melatonin

Frozen Banana:

  • Good for you heart and nerves: Potassium
  • Good for kidney’s and bones: reduces the risk of kidney stones and the loss of calcium
  • Mood enhancer or a mild sedative: Bananas contain tryptophan, which helps make serotonin in your body, which has a calming effect on the brain.
  • Good for your blood: Vitamin B6 helps make serotonin and also makes hemoglobin…..a crucial ingredient for your blood.
  • Dietary Fiber: A medium banana contains 16% of the daily recommended fiber intake.   This also helps you, um……go.  🙂  High fiber diets reduce the risk of Type 2 Diabetes.

  • Diabetic friendly

Peanut Butter:

  • Good Carbs

  • Vitamins: phosphorous, calcium, iron, potassium, selenium, riboflavin, zinc and vitamin E, an antioxidant.

These are just some of the things that I love to put in my smoothies.  I also like to put blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, mangos…..you get the picture.  And I promise, you can’t taste the Kale or spinach.  🙂
