Friday Buzz!

Morning!  As I sit here typing this up, it’s raining.  I haven’t watched the weather in the last couple of days, so this in news to me.  Kinda makes me want to stay in bed and read all day.  Kinda.  🙂

So last night I got a bug up my butt and headed to see The Hunger Games.  It was still considered the early show (5:50), but the movie is nearly two and a half hours long.  With all of the previews, it was almost 8:30 when the movie let out.

When I go see a movie, I have strict rules.  No talking.  Even if I am with someone or with friends.  NO talking.  Nada, zilch, zero.  All comments will be saved for after the show.  Thankfully, there was no talking, much anyway.  🙂

What did I think about the movie????   I have read the book and they stuck pretty close to the book.  There were a few things that they changed due to times sake, but I really did like it a lot.  I can’t wait for the next film!

Standout performances?  I really did like the lead female character played by Jennifer Lawrence.  Her character, to me, is very strong and courageous.  Stanley Tucci is hilarious!

Breakfast:

I opted for a smoothie this morning

Banana/Raspberry Smoothie

  • 1 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup of frozen raspberries
  • 1 tbsp flax
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 2/3 cup of almond milk
  • 2/3 cup of chocolate coconut milk

Friday Buzz!

  1. Apparently Prince Harry has moved in with Prince William and Kate.  If he was looking for a roommate, all he had to do was ask….:)
  2. Men’s yoga is on the rise.
  3. Studies show it’s the worst allergy season ever.  Have you seen the kleenex boxes that I have gone through?
  4. Camel Milk?  New studies show that camel’s milk is actually better for you than cow’s milk. With higher levels of protein, magnesium, copper, iron, sodium, and zinc. Three times the amount of Vitamin C and 10 times the amount of iron.
  5. I am obsessed with Missing staring Ashley Judd.  Check this show out!
  6. I have a youth conference to attend this weekend!  Pretty stoked!  I have to go pack! agh!

Have an awesome day!

Drug Emporium visit!

Ahhh, I love vacation days.  I really do.  🙂  I was in Little Rock this morning and thought that I would make a pit stop at a place that my bf Angey had told me about.

Breakfast:

Food for life Gluten-free Brown rice toast, chocolate nut butter and 1/2 a banana, and some chia seeds.  Yum!

When I walked into the Drug Emporium store, I swear bells went off and angels started to sing.  🙂  Here are just a few things that I thought were super cool.

Not really sure what these taste like, but I found them kinda interesting.  Each protein drink had different nutrients for things like: sleep, vitamin D, sports, and energy.  Neat, but not neat enough for me to purchase.  🙂

Bragg had some Apple Cider Vinegar drinks there!  Some with honey, ginger and ahhh something else, but I just can’t think of it right now.

I circled them for a long time and then settle on the one with Ginger.

All the protein bars that you can handle!   I also found some Nutritional yeast seasoning.  If you haven’t tried this, it adds a nice cheesy, nutty flavor to your food.

There was an entire isle for oats. And more oats!

Lunch:

I picked up a Glutino Gluten-free pizza while at the DE…Spinach and Feta.  Um, let’s just say that I prooooobably should have picked up more than one.  😉   It was SO good!  I will go back and get more!

To do list:

  1. Info for the ladies at FitApproach
  2. 10 o’clock appointment
  3. go see Hunger Games
  4. wash clothes

As you can see, I haven’t really put a dent in the things that I wanted to get done today.  I still have time to go see The Hunger Games if I want, but may go see the early show tomorrow.  I am in the process of gathering my clothes up to wash….only problem is that I don’t have enough of a load to wash.  :/  Oh well.

I hope you have a great rest of the day!  Check ya later!

Working out while sick and Catching Fire

Hello hello!   The last few weeks have really just been a blur to me.  I don’t know if I am coming or going.  🙂  This could be a good thing right?  I love feeling busy and it sure does make the day go by fast.  I barely have enough time to blog, much less check some of my favorites.  How do you handle a busy life??

Yesterday’s Breakfast:

Rudi’s Gluten-free toast, chocolate nut butter, 1/2 banana, and some chia seeds.

Today’s Breakfast:

Food for life Brown Rice Gluten-free toast, chocolate nut butter, 1/2 banana, and some chia seeds.  I am a creature of habit.  🙂

I had an appointment yesterday afternoon and didn’t really get a good lunch in, so I grabbed a snack before I headed in.

Today’s lunch:

It’s weird, since I have been sick, my appetite has been all over the place.  There are days I think that I can eat a cow, and then there are days that I just don’t want anything.  Today was that kind of day……for lunch I had a cup of granola.

Working out and being sick:

I have managed to get my workouts in this week, but haven’t felt up to parr doing them.  So it got me thinking, which is hard when you have so much snot in your head……When is it ok to do a workout while your sick…………..and when is it not?

  • First I think it’s important to assess how ill you are.  Check your temperature and make sure that whatever you have is not in your chest.  For example, the flu, bronchitis, etc.
  • If you simply have a sinus infection, check how you feel and then try for a light to medium intensity workout.  Always check yourself during the workout to make sure you are feeling ok.
  • Stomach, body aches, fever.  If you have any of these issues, bed rest is what you need the most.
  • When you are sick, your immune system is compromised, rest is the best thing for this.  Taking a break from exercising is ok.

Workout:

Jillian Michael’s: Shed and Shred 40 minutes

Sleep:

Last night I went to bed right at 8 and didn’t get up this morning until 7!!  I was so tired last night that I couldn’t keep my eyes open.  I don’t know about you, but I love getting that kind of sleep.  🙂

Reading:

I am just about done with the second book, Catching Fire,  in the Hunger Games series!!  I love this series!!  I can’t wait to start the last book.

I am off to read for a bit and then sleepy land!  Today was my Friday!!  I have a lot to do tomorrow!

  1. Get my information and picture to the awesome ladies at FitApproach.
  2. I have an appointment at 10 that should take about an hour
  3. go see the Hunger Games
  4. plan to see the Hunger Games again
  5. wash some clothes

I hope you have a great night!

Last week of March? Crazy!!

I can’t believe that this month is almost over!  I am setting here catching up on Dancing with the Stars and William and Cheryl did amazing!  I have yet to pick a favorite yet though.  🙂

I started the second book in the Hunger Games series and this book is just as good.  I literally can’t put it down.  😉  I am half-way thru and can’t wait to start the last book and sad at the same time when I do finally start it.

I have two vacation days coming this week, I might go check out the movie Hunger Games one of those days.

Breakfast:

I was in the mood for some eggs and bacon this morning.  Turkey bacon and two organic eggs.

Lunch:

For lunch I ran down to Subway, which is right near where I work, and grabbed a sandwich and some chips.  Honey Wheat with roasted chicken, lettuce, spinach, pickles and spicy mustard.

I also read a bit while I was at lunch too.  🙂

Workout:

Ever hear of Jessica Smith?  I ordered one of her DVD’s to give it a try, and let me say it did not disappoint.  Holy cow!  There are three levels on the DVD: 20 minute arms, 20 minute legs, and 20 minute abs.  I decided on the arms and leg portion and got my grove on!  The total workout took 47 minutes.  Ouch!  I really liked it and plan on using it quite a bit.  All you need for this workout is a mat (or carpet) and some hand weights.

Can I just say the last couple of weeks have flown by to me.  I have been doing my workouts at night, so it’s usually nearly when I finally get settled, showered, and ready to eat dinner.  This is something that I don’t really like doing…..eating so late.  I usually just end up eating a bowl of cereal or a bowl of oatmeal.  Not a real healthy meal at all.

Question:  What is your favorite meal for dinner?  And……If you are running short on time, what types of meals do you go for?

Sleep tight!! 🙂

Super cool news and diet rage

Hello!  I don’t know about you, but it didn’t feel like Sunday to me.  I can’t believe that it is already time to go back to work tomorrow.  I felt like I was just there!  🙂

I slept so well last night.  That seems to be happening a lot lately……I am so not complaining.

So how has your Sunday been?  Restful?  Spend time with your family?  Whatever you did, I hope you had a great day!

Breakfast:

English muffin with turkey bacon and an egg/orange

Lunch:

Raspberry/Banana Smoothie

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup of frozen raspberries
  • 1 tbsp flax
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 scoop of whey protein powder
  • 1 scoop of nut butter/coconut butter
  • 3/4 cup of almond milk
  • 1/4 cup of coconut milk

Snack:

We had a meeting at church this afternoon, but I had some roasted pecans and string cheese to snack on.  Yum!

Workout:

After church this morning, I met my friend Angey at her house and we worked out.  We were going to go walking, but I took over my Amy Dixon DVD to see if she wanted to give it a try.  We did and it did not disappoint.

Diet Rage:

I was looking around for some topics that I could post about and I came across the term “diet rage.”   Let’s talk about this shall we?

Do you ever have feelings of being unhappy with your current healthy lifestyle?  Some things that you know you need to change or things that you may be getting frustrated with?

Believe me, I know that feeling.  The next time that you get aggravated at yourself for not sticking to your diet or healthy living program, try these simple motivating tips so it won’t develop into “diet rage.”

  1. Cut yourself some slack.  Think about the things that are in your life that make you happy.  I love my family.  I know that no matter what I look like they are going to love me.  Think about why you started making better food and exercise decisions in the first place.
  2. Time.  Healthy decisions in your life take time to master and even then, it’s a daily decision to eat healthy.  It takes time to meet goals.
  3. Relax.  Just go with the flow.  If you knew me, you would know that this is very difficult for me.  I am very task oriented and when things get off track I have a tendency to freak out.  🙂  Relaxing and just going with the flow is something that I still work on.  It is ok to stop and smell the roses.
  4. Don’t crash diet.  Crash dieting is so detrimental to your body.  Crash dieting can also lead to binge eating and eventually weight gain.  Make sure you do it the smart and slow way.

Disclaimer:  Don’t forget to search out the best plan for you.  I am not a personal trainer, or a nutritionist, these are just my own thoughts.

Cool News!!

I got an e-mail the other day asking if I wanted to be apart of a special team and some special ladies!  Fit Approach is a community of like-minded people who encourage others to live healthy lives, be apart of the healthy side of their own communities, and do it all while wearing pink.

I can’t wait to get started on this new journey!  Be on the look out for some super cool opportunities!  🙂

I hope you have a great night!
