Well hello May!

on May 1, 2012

Hey hey!  Whew!  When I got up this morning I was really sore!  That is, the “good” kind of sore, not the “bad” sore. 🙂  It’s been a while since I have done any running, so I wasn’t sure what to expect.  My legs feel pretty good!  I can’t wait to run again!

The last time I incorporated running into my work outs, I ended up pulling a muscle in my abdomen.  This time I am going to take it slow and not push myself to the next level until my body is ready.  Also, the last time that I was running I was still doing other cardio routines, plus strength training.  I think our bodies can only take so much before it starts to fight back!  🙂  Don’t get me wrong, I want to do different things so that I don’t get bored, I just don’t want to hurt myself and get to a point where I can’t do anything!

I go in late tomorrow so I will be able to get a run in before work.  Hola!!

I wanted something different this morning, so I grabbed some Dannon Key Lime Greek yogurt and some Quaker Oatmeal Squares.  This was a nice change!

Around 11:30 my tummy started to growl, so I threw together the lunch I brought..

Roasted sweet potatoes, brown rice/quinoa mix, baked Cod, and brussels sprouts.

When I got home this afternoon, I finished up the yard work.  I don’t know if you have ever been to Arkansas, but the summers here are pretty brutal.  Not necessarily the heat, it’s the humidity.  The humidity here can make you break a sweat even if you are just bending over to tie your shoes!  I feel like such a turd saying this, but as I was finishing up the yard, I thought I was going to have to stop and catch my breath!!  I had sweat dripping off my head, into my eyes, and down my back!  I finished up (took about an hour and 15 minutes) and planned on doing a workout, but had to come in and peel my clothes off and cool off.

I opted for more protein for dinner 🙂

Flat-out Pepperoni/Sausage Pizza.  (recycled photo)  I put more spinach and less cheese on the one that I ate tonight. 🙂

I am taking my laptop to work tomorrow to get in another workout in on my lunch break.  🙂    If I do a 30 minute run before work and a 30 minute workout on my lunch break, that will be my 1 hour workout for the day!!

I hope you guys have a great night!  See you tomorrow!

  1. I am such a fan of cod, it is one of my favorite to eat. Ouch, pulling an ab muscle must have been rough. Glad you felt a good sore and are getting back into running. It can be so rewarding to build back up from taking a break.

  2. Annnnnd I’m still jealous of how yummy that flat out pizza looks 🙂

Mmm, yummy food! And I’m glad you woke up good sore – that’s a great feeling (well, great in a sore way) 🙂

  4. I love having the good kind of sore. Always makes me think that “pain is weakness leaving the body”. Or something like that 🙂

I’ve never been to Arkansas but I used to live in Oklahoma – brutal summer heat. Yardwork can totally make you sweat, no being a turd there! Mmmmm Key Lime yogurt sounds delicious!

  6. Ahhh that pizza looks might good! 🙂
