Party in the USA

on May 11, 2012

Hey!  I don’t know about you, but I am so glad that today marks the end of the week!  Tomorrow I have to work, but then after 12:00 I don’t have any plans!  I am going to go for a nice 30 minute run (weather permitting), read, drink some coffee, make some smoothies, I might even paint my toenails!

Yesterday I went to a nearby Military base with my parents for their grocery shopping.  I was also able to pick up some items.  I don’t know if you have ever been to a commissary (military shopping center) but it’s pretty cool.  Sometimes they have items that you can’t find at any other grocery store……aaaand they are just a smidge cheaper.  Cheap is good.  Free is better, but whatever.  😉  The best part?  Nearly every corner that you turned, there was a man in uniform.  Who doesn’t like that?!

Due to security being at its highest in the US right now, I was pretty limited on the picture taking.  I couldn’t even take pictures in the store.  I didn’t want to risk the chance that my camera could be taken.

Here is what I did get though:

This plane was much closer than it looks, but it was moving pretty fast and I couldn’t get my camera focused on it as quick as I wanted to.

Before we went to the grocery part of the base, we went to the BX.  Clothes, books, jewlery, electronics….you name it, they have it.  I did find some new workout pants and a shirt. Go Team!

As you have guessed it, they have their own Starbucks.  I couldn’t resist.  They have a new drink called, Mocha Coconut!  Holy Cow this drink is good!  I was really worried it was going to be too sweet, but it wasn’t.  Awesome.

We were able to kill two hours in the stores, so we purchased some turkey sandwiches for the hour ride home.  Yes, we drove an hour to buy food.  😉

Yum yum good!  I only ate half of the sandwich and I drank this….

This made me smile!

When we got home, it was late in the afternoon so I just chilled out before my Zumba class.  Bam!  Just as fun as it was Monday night.

Today’s Breakfast:

Banana/Cherry Smoothie

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup of frozen cherries
  • 1 tsp of chia seeds

  • Kale sautéed in olive oil
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup of water (depending on how much kale you use)
  • 1 cup of salsa

Dinner:

Another Smoothie!

This afternoon I started to feel a little run down.  You know, that slight tickle in your throat, headache, achy all over.  I am really hoping that I am not getting sick!  I really hate being sick, mostly because I can’t really set still.  What do you need to get better??? Rest!  I also don’t like to take medicine!

Workout:

The last couple weeks I have done a lot of cardio based workouts.  I have also done at least an hour a day, if not more.   So, today I have turned into a rest day.  🙂  Ahhhh.  I am about to go wash my face, which I love to do.  I love a clean face!
