An oldie but a goodie

on June 3, 2012

Hey hey!  I hope that your Sunday has been a good one and that you are restin up!  I love to use Sunday’s to reflect on my actions during the week.  Yes, good ones and bad ones.   I know that when I reflect on some of the things that I could have done a little bit differently, I really want it to be someone elses fault.  It usually has me setting alone going over my actions.  🙂

Last night the youth at my church put on a fund-raiser for a Christian Rock Concert that will be held in August.  They prepared a meal and were showing a movie.  Who came you ask??  No one.  My brother, who works with the youth, was a bit discouraged.  We ended up changing the movie that had been chosen and watched Facing the Giants.  Have you seen this movie??  I had seen it, but it has been a while.  It’s really good!!

Jason/my brother 🙂  I am not sure what he was laughing at, but every time we are together we turn into five year olds.  He is also very hard on me too and can be a “big brother.”  I think that I could take him though. 🙂

It’s official!!!  I finished my first week of Insanity!!!!  I really can’t believe it.  I mean, it’s so tough and there have been times I just wanted to quit, but sticking it out this week is a huge deal for me.  How’s my body??  Today was my first official rest day and I am really enjoying it.  My body is a little bit achy today, but overall I feel great!

This was after yesterday’s workout:

My face looked like a tomato!!!  It was RED!

My only concern is my vacation coming up.  I am taking my DVD’s on the road with us to South Dakota, but what if something happens and I can’t fit it in???   It’s funny how I go straight to, what if I can’t do it???  I know that at the hotels I will just take my laptop and head to the gym and do it there.  I am pretty sure that I can get my workouts in at the lodge too, so I am not going to worry about it!!

Let’s get to breakfast!

This is probably one of my favorite things to eat.  English muffin with nut butter, 1/2 of a banana and some chia seeds.

I am having some ladies over to my house tonight for a women’s bible study.  We will be talking about Mary and Martha, the two sisters of Lazarus, and Dorcas.

If you  haven’t ever read the passage about Mary and Martha, it is a great read, especially for women.  Luke 10:38-42.

Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; a certain woman Martha welcomed Him into her house.  And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word.  But Martha was distracted with much serving and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone?  Therefore tell her to help me.”  And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things.  But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

I really love this passage, mainly because I am a Martha.  I busy myself with so much, some stuff that just clutters my thoughts, and I get so distracted from what I should be doing.  Spending time at His feet.  One of the good things is this:  Jesus didn’t say that what Martha was doing is a bad thing.  He just said that the other (setting at His feet) was the better of the two.  God is dealing with me on so many things in my life right now and I can’t wait to have some time with some ladies in my church to discuss this.

Question:  How do you deal with workouts when it comes to vacations??

I hope that you have a great night!!

I’m kind of crazy when it comes to vacations and workouts – I usually try to do at least half of my usual, and I try to find hotels with a gym that is pretty inclusive! I know I enjoy my vacations more when I get a workout in!

Oh my goodness that workout must have been killer!

That’s awful no one came. At least you switched up the movie and saw something awesome.

I find that getting out first thing to run / walk is a great way to see new places – I really love the time and the opportunities to discover things quietly. It can be a hassle to pack the running shoes and extra work out wear, but worth it!

    Also – I love that breakfast 🙂

  4. i agree 100% about the simple english muffin with toppings. many times when i eat an english muffin – even if it is just plain with butter – i wonder how it is so simple yet so delicious. a beautiful thing, indeed.

  5. Nice job on sticking to the insanity. I love to look back at my weeks and see what i would have liked to do or could have handled better. Always places to grow and learn.
