As most of you know, I have been on vacation this past week. I can’t even begin to tell you what a wonderful time that we had on our vacation. This vacation couldn’t have come at a better time! If you have never been to South Dakota, you really need to go! There is so much history and amazing things to see. Plus, the weather was amazing! During the day it was in the high 70’s and at night it was in the 40’s!!
I didn’t intend to take a break from blogging, which is why I didn’t ask for any quest posts, but it just kind of happened. I was able to use the Wi-fi at the hotels going up, but once we arrived at the cabin, I couldn’t connect. Not sure why, but by Thursday night I could?! To be honest, taking a break was a nice thing. We stayed so busy during the day that by the time the day ended, there was NO time. 🙂
So tomorrow starts another day! A new Monday. Ahhh Monday…..please don’t be cruel. I have a orthodontist appointment tomorrow to pick up the mouth piece that I will be wearing for six months…………..prior to braces. 🙂
I have to confess, I didn’t take my Insanity workout DVD’s. Honestly, there was no time to do it and I would have held others up, so I decided not to take it. What does that mean?? It means that tomorrow when I start the Insanity up again……it’s going to hurt. 🙂
Monday’s Meal Plan:
Breakfast: Oatmeal, 1 slice of toast, 1/2 banana
Snack: cottage cheese and almonds
Lunch: smoothie (not sure what flavor)
Snack: watermelon, toast with nut butter
Dinner: chicken breast, broccoli, and sweet potato wedges
Here are some of the things that we did on our vacation:
1) Old McDonald Farm
This was SO much fun!!
2) Mt Rushmore
3) Big Thunder Gold mine
4) Crazy Horse Memorial
They are still in the process of finishing the memorial, so you can’t get too close. It was still breathtaking. My nephew even got in on the action!
5) 1880’s Train!
This was super cool! We were able to ride an old steam train from one town to another. It took about two hours and was really a lot of fun!
6) Dinosaur Park!
7) The Badlands
8) Custer State Park
We headed out early one morning to the park and when we finally saw these we were so excited!! I couldn’t believe that we were so close!
9) Wounded Knee Memorial
Being there and seeing this Memorial was pretty amazing, but I kind of felt intrusive. It’s a burial ground and I just felt like I was this tourist walking around taking pictures. The story of this memorial and that it happened is so much more important. We didn’t stay very long, but I am so glad that we stopped there.
10) There were lots of these
I can’t remember having such a wonderful time on a vacation! Well, since I was a little kid 🙂 I got to hang out with these two!!
I have never been to a more peaceful place in my entire life! It was so nice to experience all of these things, especially with my family. If I had to pick one of my favorites, it would have to be the Badlands. Hands down. This place was so amazing that it’s really hard to put into words what it was like being there. When we arrived I couldn’t wait to get out and take it all in! There were some really nice people there when we arrived. They are from the Lakota nation and it was so nice to meet them. It was almost too much seeing it all and talking to them and I became overwhelmed with emotion! It really was breathtaking!
I can’t even fit everything that we did into one post!
Thanks so much for being patient with me!
