Whoa Tuesday!

Morning!!    I hope your Monday was a good one.  It was great here……there were a few times that my patience was tested, but I think it was just Monday stuff.  This mornings cup of joe was much-needed.  🙂

 

 

Meal Plan:

Breakfast:   Smoothie

Snack:    Clementine

Lunch:    Salad with/greens, chicken, feta cheese, strawberries

Snack:    cherries

Dinner:    Salmon/red potatoes/veggies

Snack:    not sure that I will have one, we will see. 

 

 

Workout:

Will be doing upper body and yoga.

 

 

When I got home from work last night I had several things to do and do it in 100+ degree weather.  I have an outside dog and I have been trying to make sure that he has fresh water while it’s just so freakin hot.  I also put a fan up in his pen (at my mothers request) to add some air circulation.

A friend of mine from work also came over to help me move an AC unit to another part of the house.  By the time we were finished, I was dripping with sweat.  Nice.

My friend was also helping me with my Itunes account.  I set it up on another computer and wanted to add it to my laptop.  Why oh why does Itunes have to make it sooooo difficult.  Really??  You have to delete it from the old computer, download it to the new one, delete the songs…..this is kind of crap if you ask me.  It’s still not finished, but I hope to have it finished today.  I would kind of like to add some new songs!

Grateful Mondays!

Have you ever seen that show Hoarding: Buried Alive?  Holy cow!  Ahhh, don’t ya just love Sunday marathon days???    Anyway, on with this awesome Monday!   I don’t know if you have ever watched the show, but it’s actually a pretty good show.  This is the first time that I have ever watched it and really felt a pang for these people who do this.  In every case something emotional had scared them.

 

I am so grateful for so many things in my life right now.  I am even thankful for hard journey’s that we have to take to get to a place of peace.   Part of the change that has to happen inside of us and even on the outside takes place in this journey.  Sometimes it’s so hard to just put one foot in front of the other, but I am so thankful for me feet.  😉  Yes, they need a pedicure, but who cares right!  He he.

 

Grateful Monday’s:

  • My legs (it’s the strongest part on my body)
  • a bed to sleep in
  • my upbringing (thank you mom and dad)
  • early morning runs
  • compassion.  People just want to be loved, ya know.

 

 

 

 

Meal Plan:

 

Breakfast:    Smoothie

Snack:    cherries

Lunch:   Salad

Snack:   protein bar/or clementine…or both  🙂

Dinner:    egg sandwich with veggies

Snack:   smores

 

 

Workout: 

Run!!   My plan is to do 2 miles today.  I go into work late, so I am going to head over to my friend’s house to use her treadmill.  Yes, I am addicted.  I love it.  I really do.  Easy 2 miler.  I am not sure, but I don’t think that ‘miler’ is a word.  ;p

Right now running is the only form of cardio that I am doing.  I am not ashamed!  I am still enjoying it so much, but I really want to keep doing it right.  I don’t want to injure myself to a point that I can’t continue.  So, I am just taking it one run at a time.

 

 

 

 

Don’t forget to love yourself today.  Just get through today and tomorrow will take care of itself.  🙂

Saturday lovin

How about some Saturday love!   I hope that you are having a great weekend!  I was up at 5:15 and out the door to head to a friend of mine who has so kindly let me use her treadmill.  Um, it’s like running on cotton.  It really is.  🙂  I was kind of worried that I was going to wake her family up this morning, but gratefully I didn’t.

My workout:  4 miles.  Done and done.  When I started my run, I was really expecting my legs to feel like they had bricks tied around them.  That wasn’t the case!  My plan was to just do 3 miles, but I just decided to keep going.  Bam!

 

Sunday’s workout:  Yoga

 

I headed back home to get ready for work and felt really thankful that I was able to finish the run.  It’s the small things.

 

My meal plan today is pretty much up in the air.  Not in a bad way, but it’s just been a busy day!  I had to make a run to Wal-mart today, but instead of doing it after work, I decided to head that way before work.  You know, get it all done!  On my list:

  • almond milk (I was out!)
  • spinach
  • greens
  • strawberries
  • bananas
  • frozen blueberries
  • coffee
  • cream cheese
  • mayo
  • pineapples (tidbits in their own juices)

You know, the essentials.

 

We are having a movie night at my church tonight and I could not be more excited about it.  We are watching Soul Surfer.  Yay!!  We are also having dinner there and we are having Hawaiian themed food!  I am bringing: fruit, cookies, and a Hawaiian chicken salad.

 

On my way home from my run this morning I was able to watch the sun come up….

I really need to wash my car!   🙂

 

Things I am going to do today:

  • I am going to love myself today
  • not going to sweat the small stuff
  • not let someones negativity affect my attitude
  • smile

My friend said he was SUPER nice!  He even waited outside for her son because he was too scared to go up and ask him for a photo.  Sweet guy!

Eventful day!

Morning!   Man! Yesterday was an eventful day!    Where do I start?  I headed into work this morning and on my way in there was someone on the side of the road in her car.  For a second I thought…hmm?  What in the world??  Just to make sure that she was ok, I turned around and headed back in her direction to make sure that she was ok.  She was.  There were two other guys walking down a connected road and she had moved the car in there direction.  I really thought she was sleeping.  Or worse.

 

Running.  For the past few weeks I have been running and I am really loving it.  Well, my treadmill died.  No, it really really died.  It won’t even turn on.  It is like 200 hundred years old.  Well, luckily I have a friend that has a brand spankin new one!  I am literally the first person to use it.  🙂  I am really enjoying running on a treadmill, but I may have to run on the road a bit too.  The reason that I don’t?  I live in the woods.  One word.  Snakes.      I just had a 2.5 mile run planned.  Done and done.

 

Let me back up a bit.  On my way to my friend’s house, there were some ladies on the side of the road with a flat tire.  In the heat!  They were headed to a convention in a nearby town an hour a way.  They were in dresses.  Did I mention it was hot??  I was in my running gear and um…..felt awkward….underdressed so to speak.  hehe.  A kind gentleman did finally stop to help get the tire changed and all is well.

 

Meal plan:

Breakfast:  egg/turkey bacon/ toast

Snack:    cherries

Lunch:    salad

Snack:    clementine

Dinner:    Not sure yet.  I scratched the dinner last night for a smoothie.  Wasn’t very hungry

Snack:  cherries

Vitamin D what??

Morning!  Oh there you are Wednesday!!!   Have you seen the movie Hook?  I love that movie!   The line in there that says, “Oh there you are Peter!”  Ahhh, great scene.  Great movie.

 

Meal Plan:

Breakfast:    1 waffle with nut butter and one egg/coffee

Snack:    half of a banana

Lunch:    Salad with: greens, walnuts, chicken, strawberries, and feta cheese

Snack:    cherries

Dinner:  Salmon/red potatoes/veggies

Snack:    dark chocolate

 

 

Update:

Well, I got the results of my blood work that I had done last week.  Guess what?  I am fine.  Well, sort of.  My hormones are actually fine.  The only thing that I thought was kind of low was my Thyroid (1.48).  The nurse said it’s low on the “normal” side.  Guess that is why I am a banker.  Anyhoo, my vitamin D levels are low.  Actually moderately low……….just one step up from severe.  For a second, I was disappointed that it wasn’t something……oh I don’t know……..more.  For months now I have felt off and really wanted some sort of explanation.  Something big!  “oh Ms. So and so you  have this and we are going to give you this to take care of it.”  I really did get that, but I didn’t expect it to me something simple.  Craziness I know!!

 

So I got to digging around:

Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms are:  bone pain, joint pain, muscle fatigue, pain and weakness.  You may also experience high blood pressure, seasonal affective disorder (SAD), and psoriasis.

Vitamin D is a thyroid hormone that helps the body regulate calcium and phosphorous.  It promotes absorption of calcium and phosphorous in the intestines and is required fo normal formation and mineralization of bone.  The body cannot utilize calcium without Vitamin D.

 

I also wanted to share some of the other things that stuck out to me while I was looking things up.

  • Vitamin D deficiency symptoms can be very misleading.  Depression is one of the symptoms of long-term deficiency, but depression can be caused by many other factors.  Treating depression with antidepressants when you have a vitamin D deficiency could be useless.  Meaning that the cause of depression could be physical, rather than emotional.
  • Obesity an also be related to a vitamin D deficiency.  If you are trying to lose weight, but you are not getting anywhere with the diet, perhaps your vitamin D levels are low.  Vitamin D can prevent you from losing weight, no matter how hard you exercise.
  • Vitamin D can be found in dairy products, animal meat, eggs, and fish (sardines and salmon).  Beef liver is another great source.
  • 15-20 minutes a day in the sun is a great source

 

After reading some of this information, it would explain a lot.  I really don’t want to be one of those people who reads a list of symptoms and goes, “that’s me!”  With that said I do have a lot of them and the test proves it.  I’ll be honest, the weight part sticks out the most to me.  This part has really bothered me the most.  No matter what I do, my weight doesn’t change.  No matter how many workouts I do, my stamina decreases.  Argh!

 

Finding out is a good thing though!!  My doctor did prescribe some high dosage Vitamin D pills so I am hoping to see a difference……soon.  🙂  One of the things that I have noticed is that I don’t eat a lot of red meat.  Hardly ever.  In fact, I can’t remember the last time that I ate red meat.  This is not something that I have done on purpose, I just prefer chicken instead.  Fish, turkey and fake meat instead.  Maybe I should try to eat more of it????

This doesn’t mean that I am going to rush out and buy some beef liver mind you. 😉

There is so much that can make me smile.  I want to enjoy each moment that I am given and to smile about it.  Each moment that we are given is special.  Even stressful moments and the hard moments.  They make us stronger and they build our character.  I want to spend my time smiling, not worrying about things that just don’t matter.
