Scary clouds!

Hello!   How has/was your Friday (been)??   When it comes to banking, the end of/first of the month is always busy.  The rain did eventually stop and what came was lots of humidity.  Oh my word was it hot and ridiculous.  Whew!

After work, I headed home to finish gathering some things for my road trip to see my parents.  I headed out about 4:30 and made really good time!  It didn’t rain on me too bad, but it sure did look like the bottom would fall out.

Scary!

I am pretty beat (yaaaaawn)…..mainly because 5:00 a.m. was a long time ago.  🙂  I hope to get a good nights sleep, well as much as you can with an air mattress.

I had to stop by Wal-mart to pick up a couple of things before I made it to my final stop.  On my list?  Greek yogurt, coffee creamer, apples, almond milk and some frozen cherries.  I intended to pick up some bananas, but they were completely out!

That guy probably thinks that I am crazy!

When I finally made it to my parents RV, this is who I get to kiss on!

Sophie and Lucas.

Ok….I am off to close my eyes for at least 8 hours.  😉  I am going to be dreaming of coffee.

Later!

Pretty sunset. 🙂

Road trip!

Morning!  I hope that you have had a great week!  Today marks the beginning of a long weekend!  Well, after the work day anyway.  I don’t have to be back at work until Tuesday of next week!

Yesterday was filled with last-minute details getting ready for my long weekend trip.  AC is still not fixed so the drive to see my parents this weekend will be without it, but hopefully the ride home will be a little bit different.

The only thing that concerns me is the rain that we are getting.  Arkansas is under a tropical depression and it’s been raining since early yesterday where I live.  No big deal right?  We need the rain.  😉    What happens when you get into your car and it’s raining outside??   Does your windows fog up??  Well, mine do.  Hopefully I will be able to see on my drive!

I have tried to finish up some things so that there is nothing spoiled to come home to.  🙂   There is no milk in the house, no bread, no greens, no leftovers.  I think that’s about it.

Here are some of the things that I am excited about doing this weekend:

  1. Resting.  I am so excited about just chilling out.  Even if it rains until Saturday (which is what I think is going to happen).  That gives me an excuse to lay up and read for the day.  🙂
  2. Which brings me to my next one.  Reading.  I received my new book in and started it last night.  Delirium by Lauren Oliver.
  3. Spending time with my parents.  I really love doing this….I love that I can actually talk to my parents and have really great conversations.  We can also cut up and laugh so hard we cry!
  4. Getting away for a bit.  Do you ever just want to get away?  I mean, not run away from things.  I don’t have anything in particular that is on my mind, but getting away and not having to worry about work or anything like that.
  5. Spending my mornings with my dad.  We both like to get up early so we just drink our coffee together.  🙂
  6. Getting to go to my favorite store!  Yoders!  It’s a great little store that has organic and health foods!  I can’t wait!!

I also wanted to share with you guys things that I am loving right now! 🙂

  1. my yogurt bowls.  I think that I have had this for lunch all week!  Wait, I have!!  1 container of vanilla greek yogurt, granola, half of a red delicious apple (cut up/with skin), and some chocolate dreams nut butter drizzled on top.
  2. I found this super cool blog called How Sweet It Is.  She has tons of recipes and they all look so yummy!
  3. Reading!
  4. Jericho.  I found the series on Netflix.  🙂
  5. Running.  I have really enjoyed running lately.  I mean I now think about pace, negative splits, PR’s, stride, training plans…….all that runner geek stuff.  😉

I just wanted to say thank you guys for being who you are.  The bloggers that I follow, the people who post comments, the people who don’t.  Starting this blog and being apart of awesome ladies at Fit Approach is a big deal for me.  Thank you for your support, your kind words, your encouragement, and thank you for being you.  Thank you!!

I still have to do a couple of things before I leave for my road trip, but I am hoping that this day just flies by!  I still have to get gas, change out my low beam light (this I have to do today), pack up my car!

I hope you have a great day!  And that you don’t forget to love yourself today!

Twilight Zone Wednesday

Have you ever just had one of those days?  You know, a day where you swear that your body is asleep somewhere and everything around you is the twilight zone?  Well, my Wednesday was in that zone.  🙂

All day.

I got up this morning feeling great, but had a slight foot thing.  After my run yesterday, I finished the lawn and when I was all finished the top of my left foot had a bit of pain.  As a baby runner, one of the things that I am learning is to distinguish pain from soreness.  This is definitely pain.  I am kind of ticked off at myself for doing whatever I did, but I just have to roll with it.  I wasn’t able to elevate my foot while at work today, but I have it up now and a lovely bag of frozen corn on top of it.  🙂

So with my foot thing in tow I headed to work.  Um, did I forget to tell you that my AC went out in my car?  I think I did.  Thank the Lord the temps are not in the triple digits anymore!  Anyway, I called a local place and made an appointment for it to be looked at.  I don’t know what your experience is like with mechanic places, but I really hate that they have one up on ya.  I wouldn’t know how to fix anything on my car.  At all.  But they know this.  And they use this.  I was a little agitated when they said they would call after checking it out and it set there for 2 hours.  (I can see the place from where I work)  The impatient person in me calls to see if I need to bring it another day and they had already looked at it!  The cost??  When all is said and done it is going to be $1000!  The part and the labor to fix an air compressor is apparently expensive.  Who knew!!??   They are also not going to be able to get to it until next week.  Now I am not too much of a girly girl, but driving to see my parents this weekend (3 hours one way) without the AC was going to be pushing it.  🙂

I was already frustrated with a fellow employee, the foot was hurting and then this whole AC thing…..what’s a girl to do???  I called my daddy that’s what I did.  With tears in my eyes, I picked my cell up and pushed the “dad’s cell” button and began to tell him about my day.  I don’t care how old that I am I am so thankful and blessed beyond measure to still have my parents in my life.  I don’t know what I would do without them.  They love me, even when I disappoint them.  They encourage me when I am down and they coach me when I need coaching.  I love them very much.

What did my dad do?  Well I will tell you what he did.  Since my parents are retired, they spend a lot of time in their RV.  Where they are staying at, my dad helps out with they yardwork…..mainly because he can’t set still.  Anyhoo, the owner of the RV park has a son who also works on cars.  Long story short, I am going to drive up Friday afternoon, take my car to the car guy early Saturday morning and he is going to fix it for a good $200 less.  How cool is that?

I feel tired and premenstrual.

I did drown my sorrow in some dark chocolate  🙂

Tomorrow is going to be another busy one.  I have to work until 5:00 and then I will head home instead of going to run (wah) and then I will wash some clothes and get all packed to leave Friday afternoon.  I am leaving straight from work Friday so I will need to have everything ready by then.  One of the ladies that I work with is going to come by the house and take care of the animals while I am gone.  Thank you Tressie!

It’s going to be raining the day that I leave and probably this Saturday, but I am so excited to just get away and relax for a bit.  Not run away from things, just take it easy.

**just a note**  Please don’t be offended with my comments about mechanics.  I do think there are some trustworthy people out there who do not gauge and who are honest and decent.

This statement really stuck out to me during my bible study….

My primary concern should not be, What should I do with my life tomorrow? but, What does God want me to do today?

With the day that I have had today, I am smiling at the way that God really does work things out.  Even as I type this up and overwhelmed that He loves us even when we throw tantrums.  Have a super night!!

Gouda please.

Happy Hump Day!

Ahhh, coffee.

How was your Tuesday?  Anything new happen to you?  My ended with a quick 1.4 mile run.  Came home and then finished up the lawn.  Something I wanted to get done before the weekend.

I tried something different with lunch yesterday and I wanted to share it with you!

I took the following:

  • Chobani Vanilla Greek yogurt
  • granola
  • chocolate dreams nut butter
  • 1/2 of a red delicious apple

I chopped the apple up (with skin) and put it in the bottom of the bowl, added the yogurt, added the granola, and then drizzled the nut butter on top.  This was so good!

The weather is absolutely gorgeous here today!  It’s cool and breezy!  I stepped outside and was like….ahhhh.  🙂  We are supposed to get some of the rain from the hurricane, so this weekend it will be rainy.  I’ll take the beautiful weather when I can get it!

This breakfast sandwich was so good this morning!

I took one egg, two slices of turkey bacon, one slice of gouda cheese and I added it all to an english muffin.

How are you going to spend your Wednesday?  I will be at work until 6:00 and then it’s off to church.

Have a great day!!

Monday plus one.

Morning! Morning!   Man, I am so glad that it’s Tuesday!  I only have to work until 5:00 and I have another run scheduled!  Aaaand, it means I only have 4 more days until I get a long weekend.  Pretty excited.  I am.  I really really am.  🙂

Yesterday was full of some super cool eats….Let’s see shall we?

My morning was shared with one of these.  And it was soooo good.

You know, there is a line at the top, but I wonder why the good stuff never reaches it???

Lunch:

A little while later I wanted some lunch and I have been craving yogurt lately.  Yum and Yum.

I intended to get the Yoplait because it has fewer calories and less sugar, but Chobani is all that they had.

I also put some granola on top 🙂

Last night I was in the laundry room washing up my workout clothes.  Let’s just say they were pretty rank.  Anyway, I just happen to look up and saw some ants.  I don’t mean any ole ant.  These suckers were HUGE.  and BLACK.  HUGE!!  After I crapped myself, I went to get some ant spray and then went to town.  You will never believe where the trail was coming from!!  I walked out on the back deck and stepped right into them!  I don’t believe that they are biting ants, but agh!!

I called my dad, because that’s what daddy’s girls do, and told him.  He seems to think that they are coming from the woods.  And yep, he was right.  So, I have to take care of it today………….in the daylight.  😉

Snack:

Have you tried one of these??

I think they are pretty good!  They aren’t a Toll House or anything, but it does curb the cookie crave.

Late in the afternoon, I also nursed one of these.  🙂

I will be so sad when the Clementines are not in season and the local store stops carrying them.

For dinner I made some quesadilla’s out of chicken, refried beans and some cheese.  I placed all of the ingredients on a tortilla and then heated it until the cheese melted.  I guess I was starving because I scarfed it down!  With no picture.  🙂

What do you have planned for today?  How do you fight hunger pains in the afternoon??

I am off to make some breakfast, hope you have a great day!
