Happy Halloween!

Well hello there!   As I type this up I am baking some Halloween cookies!   I got the recipe from Brown Eyed Baker.  Monster cookies!


Did you have a good day?   My day actually ended at noon today so I was pretty happy about that.  I didn’t get my run in this morning so I got right on the treadmill right when I got home.  This week mother nature has hit pretty hard and my “visitor” is giving me headaches and making me a grumpy person in the morning.  I hope to be back to normal by the end of this week!  It’s amazing how that little thing throws your entire week off!  (if there are any men reading….sorry!!)



Today I had a 4 mile run on the schedule and couldn’t wait to do it!  Like I said, this morning was a no go, but by the time I got home I was ready for it!


Mile One:     9.08

Mile Two:    8.54

Mile Three:    8.45

Mile Four:    8.45


Total time:    35:30

Average Pace:    8.50


I did some stretching when I was finished and then I like the song so much that I was listening to, I got my grove on.  🙂



I really wanted some oatmeal this morning, so I grabbed a bag and added 1 tbsp of almond butter.  I also wanted an egg and some grapes…



For my snack this morning I grabbed a banana and some pumpkin spiced pecans that I had made earlier in the week..

This really hit the spot!


After my run I jumped in the shower and cleaned up and then made myself a smoothie for lunch.  I added all the fabulous nutrients:

  • 1 cup of 30 Calorie almond milk
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup of frozen cherries
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • scoop of protein powder
  • and a large handful of spinach

No picture…..sorry!!  It was good though. 😉


I am working on dinner right now… 😉



One chicken link, steamed veggies, and one red potato.  Yum yum and yum.



So while I was typing all of this up, the cookies are done!!


I think they turned out pretty good.  The house smells wonderful!  You really must make these cookies!  I haven’t tried one yet, but they sure smell good.



Where I live at, we don’t have very many kiddo’s that come by for some candy on Halloween, but every year I think we gain at least one or two more kids.  So I ran by the store and grabbed a bag of candy….  Not good that it’s in the house, but whatever is left I am taking to work tomorrow and I am forcing it on the customers.  Really, I am.

Apples, eggs and english muffins.

Hi!  How’s it going?  I am going to apologize up front for the randomness of this post.  😉   I feel like I have so much in my head and it just has to come out!

So I feel like baking all of the time now.  I mean I could go in the kitchen right now and bake cookies, a cake, a cheesecake.  Anything!  I love baking!  The problem?     I like to eat it too.  🙂   And this wouldn’t be a problem, but I sometimes can get on a roll and not stop.


Last nights sleep was pretty interesting.  Sometime around 1:30 these cats outside decided to get into a fight.  This woke me from a dead sleep!  The next thing I know I have the flashlight in hand and I am standing outside searching for the fighting cats!!  After checking on the two cats that I have outside (they are ok mom) I went back to bed, but I didn’t go right back to sleep.  I tossed a bit and then finally dozed off a couple of hours later.  I even woke up before my alarm went off, which makes for a sleepy morning.

Instead of getting my run in this morning, I did it when I came home from work.



2 mile run.

I felt really great on this run!

One english muffin with one cinnamon skinny cow cream cheese, half an apple and one egg

….some Greek Yogurt.



A few hours later I grabbed another snack:

2/3 cup of cottage cheese and some grapes




Grilled chicken, steamed veggies, and some sweet potato wedges.  I also put some cheyenne pepper on the sweet potatoes and oh my word they were so good!  My mouth was completely on fire when I was finished, but it was so worth it.


I cannot believe that October is almost over!  I mean oh my word this year has gone by so fast.  Thanksgiving is coming up and then Christmas.  Wow!

Bonfires and Puppies

I hope your Monday has been a good one!   It’s my last day of vacation…. 😦   Back to work tomorrow!   I came back home pretty early, so I have had most of the afternoon to relax.  I took a quick cat nap and then headed to the grocery store for a few things that I am out of.

Sunday was a pretty busy day, but it was a great one!  I did manage to make it to a local gym in Mt View AR and do my long run.

It was extremely dark when I went inside the gym, but this was what I saw when I came out…. 🙂


7 Mile Run:

This was a totally different treadmill and it felt kind of like running on the ground.  There wasn’t a whole lot of spring action.  I felt great during the entire run and my legs felt great too!  One thing that I forgot to do though was drink some water before I left for the gym.  Maybe it’s because I was off my normal routine, but man!  I was pretty parched when I was finished.  Lesson learned.


Sunday was also filled with a bonfire and popcorn.


There were also puppies and naps Sunday…

It’s amazing how quickly a vacation no matter how big or small can kind of get you off your routine.  😉  I love having time off, but I also really like having a routine.  Just for fun, I thought that I would share my daily routine with ya.


5:00-6:00 a.m.  This is the time frame that I usually wake up in the morning.  If I have to run, I definitely get up at 5:00.  I like to spend about an hour to 45 minutes having some quiet time and catching up on the blogging world.


6:00-7:00 a.m.  If I have a run to do or any kind of workout, this is the time that I have blocked off for that.  If I don’t have a run, this is the time that I start my breakfast.


7:00-8:00 a.m.  I start getting ready around 7:00 and can normally get finished by 7:45.  I like to be on the road to work by 8:00….sometimes it doesn’t always happen, but I don’t have to be at work until 8:15 anyway.  When I go in late, I have a little more time to get ready and maybe even do some laundry.


8:15 a.m.-6:00 p.m.  My work day.  Sometimes it ends at 5:00, and if I have to work on Saturday, it will end at noon.  I never eat on my “actual” lunch hour.  I am usually eating my first snack around 10:00 and then I will eat my lunch at 12:00 or 12:30.  I can really drive my co-workers nuts with my time management.  It’s a gift.


I spend the rest of the day catching up on things, such as:  laundry, eating dinner, tv, reading, blogging.

I can’t believe this day is coming to an end!   Getting up at 4:30 this morning seems like ages ago.  🙂   So how has your Saturday been?

Today has been just another relaxing day and I have enjoyed it very much.  My mom and I headed up to Main Street to see all the happenings of Bean Fest…


There were vendors…

It was also getting pretty crowded with people cooking their beans… 🙂



There were flea markets…


I really think that I have a problem…. 😉



This afternoon I wanted to go for a walk, so I grabbed my dad and forced him to go with me.  He thought we were just going to go a ways and then turn back.  No, we didn’t.  We ended up probably covering a mile and a half…..and conquered a very large hill.  It was funny, he was telling me stories from when he was a little boy and then when we started up the hill he got very quiet.  🙂



This wasn’t the hill, but it was toward the end of our walk….

Enjoy Your Surroundings

Well hello there!   It’s Saturday!!  If any of you guys are running races today….. You’re Awesome!  🙂   I on the other hand am going to be hitting up so flea market stores, local vendors, and some coffee shops with my mom today!  It’s Bean Fest here in Mt View AR this weekend and so there are tons of things to do!  What’s Bean fest??  It’s where tons of people come from all around to cook beans.  Really it is.  There are other things involved too, but that’s the gist of it.  🙂  There are between 30 and 40 thousand people here for this event!!


Yesterday, my parents and I just enjoyed our surroundings…







It was such a beautiful day too!   It was super windy and super cool, but it was still a nice day.  It was nice to spend it with my parents.  🙂


I woke up at 4:30 this morning so I have only managed to get coffee down…..  I am thinking yogurt/egg/waffle combo.



My legs are SO sore from running outside yesterday.  But it’s the good kind of sore…    When I sent Cait a text to let her know about my run, I also told her that it was outside.  She wants to incorporate some “ground” running as well and I am pretty excited about it!

I am a little nervous about my long run Sunday….I can’t get in touch with the lady that is supposed to get me the code for the gym.  I am not quite ready to do the entire long run on the ground so I am not sure what this means if I am not able to do it.  That is totally why I love working with Cait!!  She can figure that out for me!  It’s one of the great reasons I really sought out help from her.  I know that she has my best interest in mind and she knows what I can and can’t do at this point in my running stage.  Running coaches are the best!
