Run Forrest!

on November 7, 2012

Remember when I said I didn’t want to run this morning??   Well, I did.  Smile    All day I toyed with not running, with running.  I am too tired…. you name it, I thought it.

I e-mailed Cait this morning to let her know my thoughts and she was so great about getting back to me.  She gave me some tough love and told me to “lace up” and at least give it five minutes.  Run five minutes and see what happens.  What happened??  I had my fast mile to date people!!  As I got on the treadmill, it dawned on me that today might be one of my speed drills!  I quickly got out my phone to check my e-mail and sure enough……speed drill!!

Here’s how the speed drill went:  Run a 10 minute warm-up and then run 4 minutes fast/4 minutes regular pace (x3).

4 Mile Speed drill:

Mile One:    8.57

Mile Two:    8.15 (bam!!)

Mile Three:    8.29

Mile Four:    8.31

Total time:    34:15

Average Pace:    8.33

Eeeek!!  I had two super cool things happen on this run.  I had my fastest mile of 8.15 and I ran my fasted 5K at 26.10.

As much as I didn’t want to do this run, I am so glad that I did!

BBQ chicken sandwich.  No picture, but it was so good after my run!

On my way to work this morning, I stopped and took a picture of this really pretty tree…

The next two days are going to be long, but I know that I can make it through them and get to the weekend.

Can I just sat that I really love taking pictures… Smile

I am out!  Have a great night!!

  1. I have those internal battles all the time about running. I can easily talk myself out of anything. Good for you for lacing up and hitting the treadmill!

  2. I can tell you like taking pictures because all of your posts have them. I still don’t know you have so much time to blog, lol.
    Great workout and speedy mile!

Nce job, lady! Sometimes the hardest runs are the ones you don’t think you want to do!

  4. Good on you Brandi!!! What a great reward for lacing up and getting going 🙂 It sounds like you and Cait are making wonderful things happen – those times are really exciting.

  5. BAM is right!! way to go, and i’m doubly proud of that run because of how you handled it mentally! we all have those blah days, but you got out there, got ‘er done, and kicked butt too! 🙂
