7 or 4 mile run

on November 11, 2012

So today has been an interesting day.  When I got up this morning, I still didn’t feel all that great from the day before, but I got ready for the day and headed on to church.  I felt a little tired, but I got my class ready and waited on the kiddo’s to get there. (I teach the first, second, and third graders)  For whatever reason the kids seemed a little rowdier than usual and it really seemed to make me feel worse.

Once I got home from church, I knew that I was going to have to fit my run in sometime today, so I wanted to get right to it.  I changed into my running gear and hopped onto the mill.

I was a little tired when I started, but then my legs started to feel really weak, more so than they ever have.  I actually couldn’t finish the first mile without stopping.  I ended up stopping six times in a four mile set.  I really really wanted to push thru this run, but lets be honest, I think that my body was trying to tell me something.  At one point I thought that I was going to throw up or cry, or both.  My stomach started to turn and I just knew that I was going to lose it….

So, my seven mile long run turned into a four mile run.  Now I could look at this as a complete failure, or I can learn from it.  Learning to listen to my body is something that will always be a learning process for me, but I feel that I did do that.

4 Mile Run:

Mile One:    9.24

Mile Two:    9.21

Mile Three:    9.13

Mile Four:    9.15

Total Time:    38:00

Average Pace:    9.18

Once I finished, I came inside to cool off and get a shower.  I have been dozing ever since.  I don’t know if it was all of the activity the day before, but for whatever reason I need rest.

And rest I am going to continue…

I will catch you guys later!

  1. I am a fan of rest. You sound like you need some if you are tired. Put on a pair of compression socks and put your feet up 🙂
