Sharing a Quote

Hey guys!   I was watching the movie New Years Eve tonight and I wanted to share one of the quotes from the movie….

It’s suspended there to remind us before we pop the champagne and celebrate the New Year, to stop and reflect on the year that has gone by. To remember both our triumphs and our missteps – our promises made, and broken. The times we opened ourselves up to great adventures – or closed ourselves down, for fear of getting hurt. Because that’s what New Year’s is all about: getting another chance. A chance to forgive, to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more. And stop worrying about ‘what if’ and start embracing what would be. So when that ball drops at midnight – and it will drop – let’s remember to be nice to each other, kind to each other. And not just tonight but all year long.

I just thought it was a great quote and wanted to share it with you.  If I had to say that I had a resolution, this would be it.

A little gratitude

Morning!  How in the world is it Sunday?  I mean I have to go back to work tomorrow and I feel like I just left!  Smile    I am looking forward to News Years Day though, another day off.  I am going to be worthless trying to get back into some sort of routine.

The last couple of days however, I have had some tummy issues.  Not sure if it’s a 24 hour bug, but let’s just say that I can’t really be far from a bathroom.  (I know, too much information!)

I had to work yesterday, but then came home to just hang out because by then, the tummy started to grumble.

With the new year coming up, I am sure you are going to see lots of posts, TV shows, articles and such about setting goals and resolutions.  Even articles about the previous year and what would have been done differently.  This year, I want to do things differently.  I want to be able to just live my life.  With no boundaries, limits, or crazy challenges.  I want to live and be healthy physically and emotionally and I think that just about covers it.

The one challenge that I am going to do is be kind to myself.  I think that when we have gratitude for being alive and for having life, then that comes out in diet and thoughts.  Does that make sense?  If I am at a good place with myself; body and spirit, then I will want to eat right, exercise and my emotional state will be positive (not negative).

So that is what I am going to be concentrating on.

I wanted something that would set ok on my stomach so I went with oatmeal and an orange.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and that you are looking forward to the new year just like I am!

Question:  How are you going to bring in the New Year??

Good morning my friends.  I hope that you are having a great morning!  It was so nice to actually be able to sleep the entire night without anything waking me up.   The weather so far is ok this morning.  Last nights winter weather turned into just rain, thank goodness.  However, they are calling for snow/freezing rain this later today and into this afternoon.

With no computer, I wasn’t able to check the Elf 4 Health Challenges so I have been horrible at them this week not remembering what they are.  I do know that yesterday’s challenge was to list 20 things that you are thankful for, so I am going to do that this morning!  Smile

20 Things I am Thankful for:

  1. Jesus
  2. life
  3. my parents
  4. tender heart
  5. heat/provisions
  6. roof over my head
  7. being free
  8. you
  9. my niece and nephew
  10. for past relationships
  11. my rose colored glasses
  12. God’s Word
  13. coffee
  14. old friends
  15. smiles
  16. my blog/blogging
  17. exercise/ability to move
  18. imagination

  20. love

With one to grow on!!

I just want to thank you so much for allowing me to share my life with you!  I am not big into resolutions, but I am looking forward to the new year and what it brings!  New possibilities.  Smile

I hope you have a great day and are warm and loved where you are at.    **hugs**

Christmas, Snow and Electricity!

Well hello there world!   It’s been an interesting couple of days to say the least.  There’s been Christmas…

Christmas was perfect!   My family ended up getting together a little early that day because we were expecting some bad weather…

My contribution to Christmas dinner:

Some spices and freshly squeezed orange juice

The finished product!   Honey Glazed Carrots!

My sweet lil man waiting on Santa.. Winking smile

And this is where the fun begins….  We were expecting some bad weather and boy did we get some.  First it started to rain and then it turned into freezing rain, which started to stick to the trees.  It did this for a few hours and then later that night it turned into snow….

Yes it was beautiful.  Yes we had a white Christmas.  Yes we lost power.  That part wasn’t too much fun…

Christmas day night we lost power for a bit, but it did come back on in time for us to go to bed.  About 5:30 the next day (the 26th), we lost power again and this time it stayed off.  No electricity, no phone lines, and no internet.  The good thing?  We had heat and hot water!!  Honestly, being without tv, cell phones and internet wasn’t all that bad.  The bad thing?  I used to think that candle light was a romantic thing.  Nope, not anymore.  When you eat, clean, pee, and talk by candle light, it actually can get a bit old.  Winking smile

As of right now we have power….. have for a few hours now, but we are expecting more freezing rain tonight.  I am keeping my fingers crossed that we don’t loose power.

Welp, that’s about it!  I hope you have a great night!

Morning my friends Smile

Um, I think we might get snow tonight!!    (keeping fingers crossed)

I have been up since 4:00 a.m. this morning…Not sure why I got up that early, but I sure did.  Let’s see, what did I do?  I peeled some sweet potatoes, got my ingredients for green bean casserole ready, swept the floor, read/caught up on blogs, worked out, made a super cup of coffee.  I guess I am pretty excited that today is Christmas.  I mean, do we not count the days down all year to get here?

Turkey Day Trimmer from Delights and Delectables!   Brittany has also listed out some great tips for staying healthy and fit through the holidays.

Her number 1 on the list is probably my favorite….. Lots and lots of water!   That’s the first think that I do when I stumble into the kitchen.  Down about 20 ounces of water….ahhh.

I hope that you guys have a great day and a wonderful
