A Little Nostalgic

on December 11, 2012

How in the world are ya?   In response to that question, one of our customers said this, “I’m above ground.”  Smile    It was a great day!  Of course having to only work a half day kind of made it great too.

I got up bright and early this morning at 5:00, drank some water and then made me a cup of coffee.  It was sliiiiightly nippy this morning at a whopping 20 degrees!

This morning at work went by pretty fast too, and before I knew it my day was over!  My mom and I were able to do a little Christmas shopping today.  She did most of the shopping and I just did the driving around.  Somehow I have managed to be out of everything cosmetic.  Even shampoo.  Crazy!

I did pick up a couple things for the family, but still have to get some things.  My work Christmas party is this Saturday so I picked up my “persons” gift today!  I hope she will like it!

Christmas always makes me feel a little nostalgic.  Doesn’t it you?

Such as these….  These were my brother and my stockings growing up.  My mom would buy some little toy and fill the stocking up with fruit and nuts.  We still put the out.

My mom has always put this out too.  One of our church members gave it to her in 1979 (I was 4).  It holds candy canes every year. Smile

My mom collects Santa’s and this was the first one that she purchased… a yard sale.  Two very large cabinets later, she has never looked back.

There are so many things that I remember about Christmas that make me smile.   I can remember being at my childhood home with my cousins and watching the local news because they were “tracking” Santa.  We would get so excited when he would get close to our house.  I remember getting up and all of the toys being put together and thinking that Santa must have worked all night to do it!

One year we went to see my mom’s family in Mississippi and we had the best time.  All of us are adults now, but we were all little kids or teenagers then.  We would gather at my uncle and aunts house and just hang out…..good times.

“Christmas isn’t just a day, it’s a frame of mind.”    What movie??

Homemade chili with deer meat.

Elf 4 Health Challenge:

Clean out your fridge and pantry today!

Done!   Man I went thru so much stuff and ended up throwing away several bags of canned food and refrigerator items.  It’s like there is this dark hole in the fridge and it just sucks everything in there!

I hope you have a great night!!

I love your memories from past Christmases 🙂 They remind me a lot of mine…my mum still fills our stockings haha, even though I’m not home on Christmas Day anymore. I just make her tell me Santa came early 😉
