Positive Thinking

Morning my friends!  It’s been a great week and I just know it’s going to be a great weekend!  I have to work, but it’s not big deal.  I was supposed to get some teeth pulled yesterday, but my local dentist didn’t want to just use a local to pull them.  There are three in there that have to go for my braces to do the job they need to and he feels that it’s going to be pretty dramatic to get them all pulled at the same time.  I would agree.  I will have to go under for them to do this, so he is sending me to an oral surgeon.  So it’s going to be a bit longer for this ending, but I would rather it be done correctly and heal properly so the braces can do their job then rush through it.

Workout:

I had my half day yesterday so that I could take care of the above, so when I got home I did a couple of things and then wanted to get my workout in.  I also wanted to work my arms….. I have this DVD by Jackie that is called 30 Day Fast Start.  She works in Pyramids on this DVD and let me tell ya….my arms are pretty sore even as I type this.  She works every single part of your arm…………and then some.

I also did this workout:

Perform one Air squat, take a breath.  Perform two Air Squats, take two breaths.  Perform three Air squats, take three breaths.  You see where I am going with this right??  Smile  I did this until Ten.

Positive Thinking:

Let’s talk about some positive thinking.  So many times I have really sabotaged myself and my lifestyle by thinking negatively.  I really try to look at things with a positive attitude, but sometimes life can get crazy and hard and we just want to cave into the negative thinking.

Example one:  Last night Kevin and I spent a lot of time looking at each others pictures on facebook.  It was so much fun looking at them and then allowing the other person to explain them and talk about their experience.  But for a split second after giving him access to them, I thought…..”oh great, there are some fat pictures of myself on there and he will see them!”  I couldn’t believe that I went there with my thought process.  I mean, this guy loves me and would never think horrible things about me, but I went there.  This also caused me to look at my journey in a negative way, but only for a second.  The best things was when I shared my thoughts with Kevin and he quickly reassured me that he loved me just as I am.

Positive thoughts really are contagious and you can actually see them come out in a person who thinks like this.

Positive People:

  • Think on the good things in life
  • Are thankful for the blessings they have
  • Confident that the world offers plenty of opportunities for everyone to succeed
  • Nothing can hold them back from reaching their goals
  • Don’t complain when something bad happens
  • are usually peace keepers
  • Make the most of a situation
  • Usually have a smile on their face

I normally try to be like this, but there are moments where those old feelings creep in.  I am so thankful that I have people in my life who love me and encourage me to think positive.  Thinking negative thoughts can be so damaging and in a weight loss journey can have opposite effects.

What are your thoughts??  How do you stay positive in a world that can sometimes beat you down??

Weight Loss:

So I am not a scale fan, but I wanted to see how the last couple of months have played out on the scale.  There is a doctors office nearby where I work and so I called over there to see if I could come weigh.  Well, I am down 13 pounds!!   I was so overjoyed and celebrated my moment!!  I still have about 10 to go, but I was so proud of that moment and even if I don’t lose another pound I will be ok with that.  Smile

I hopw you have a great day!!

No Better Way

Morning my sweet friends!  Whew!!  I thought that Monday would never end!  I didn’t have the best attitude either, which can make for a long day.  It also rained.  Like a lot.  Made for a dreary day… I was even supposed to workout when I got home, but I opted for a rest day instead.  I also wanted to curl up with a blanket and talk to my Kevin.  You are going to be sick of me saying that, but he really does make my heart skip a beat.

On the food front, I am pretty much eating the same thing.  I am a creature of habit so this doesn’t bother me, but when you are forced to eat soups because you can’t really chew a lot it kind of takes the fun out of being that creature.  Winking smile

My morning consists of oatmeal and almond butter.  My snacks are usually a banana.  My lunch will forever be soup. And my dinners have been chili my dad made.  I am thinking that I might make me some eggs to take for my lunch today.  You know, be radical and change things up!

Workout:

5 rounds of

20 jumping jacks

10 sit ups

Run One mile

No Better Way:

After ending my night the best way that I know how, I was thinking of other ways……other awesome ways…..to end my day.

  • Watching an old movie
  • Reading a great book
  • Talking to a great friend
  • going to bed early
  • snuggled up to your favorite pet
  • drinking coffee with a friend
  • baking (especially banana bread)

What are some ways that you like to end your day??

This also got me thinking of some of my favorite workouts…. Smile

My Favorite Workouts:

  • Running.  I love running.  I really do….it doesn’t always love me, but I love how it makes me feel and how it makes me push myself beyond my limits
  • DVD’s.  One of my favorite DVD’s is Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred.

450x300_jillian-michaels-30-day-shred

  • Tabata style workouts.  These types of workouts consist of just a few (maybe up to 5 or 6) workout moves that you perform for 20 seconds on and then 10 seconds off.  I have also seen a few tabata workouts that go for longer…  60 seconds on 30 seconds off.  My favorite instructor is probably Amy Dixon.
  • Walking.  I love pushing myself, but sometimes just a nice walk will do.
  • Zumba.  Ahh, if you have never tried this, you really should!  If you like to dance, and I do, it Zumba allows you to get your groove on aaaand sweat.
  • A good hike.
  • Crossfit at home workouts.  Here’s the thing with Crossfit.  It intimidates the mess out of me, but I am not opposed to finding some at-home workouts that would be considered CF workouts.

What are some of your favorite workouts??

I hope you guys have a great day!!

Spur of the moment hike!

Oh Monday…..It’s been a great weekend, but I just didn’t expect you to show up so soon.  I mean, you could have called first.  Smile     Morning My friends!  How are you this Monday morning??  I hope you had a great weekend!  I had the best day yesterday!  When I got up yesterday morning, I decided to go on a hike after church.  So after church I came home and ate a little something and then packed up my back pack and headed out.

It’s funny, I was thinking that this was the coolest idea ever……………..so did everyone else.  Winking smile  When I got to the place that I was going to hike, it was packed!  But it was just lots of families having a great afternoon.  So I set out on my hike.  Half way up I shed my jacket that I had and thought, hmmm I’m out of breath!  Using the quads the entire time go the heart rate up!  It was so beautiful though.  The weather was amazing!

A little picture heavy, but it was such a great hike!

When I left, I thought that I would swing by Starbucks on my way home, well because I pass right by and it was the only thing that I could do really.  Winking smile  As I made my way up to pay, the dude at the window said that the person in front of me had paid for my drink.  Yay!!   Even better day!

After I got my free coffee, I headed back to the house to meet my parents for church.

I needed a snack while I was at church so I grabbed a Lara bar…

Things that I’m loving right now:

  1. Kevin.  Ahhh, I can’t tell you how much he amazes me everyday.  I haven’t been in a relationship in a very long time aaaand, I haven’t ever been in one like this.  He is the most considerate, polite, kind, person that I know.  Being far away from him is really starting to suck more and more.  We have planned my first trip out to see him in just a couple of months.  This will be the longest wait ever.  I can’t wait to see him and spend some time with him.  Long term people, long term.  Winking smile
  2. oatmeal.  I love love love oatmeal.  It’s my go-to breakfast.
  3. Getting out more.  I was so excited to just go on a spur of the moment hike yesterday.
  4. Coffee.  I don’t think that I will ever get tired of this one.  I mean, I hope to be in a relationship with coffee for a very long time.
  5. Running that mile!  So I wanted to make it to an 8:00 minute mile.  Did that and then some, but now I really just want to keep going!  I want to see how fast I can do that mile!
  6. Getting rid of sugar.  Getting rid of it had really forced my body not to crave it.  Which I love.
  7. This girl.   Love her!

It’s the simple things.

7:53!

Happy Sunday!!  It’s been a great weekend so far and I am happy to say that I am going to continue my relaxing theme and just chill out today.  Something very cool happened yesterday….. As I said earlier, I wanted to run an 8:00 minute mile.  Well, I did…..

One Mile:  Average pace 7.53

Holy Cow!!

When I got up yesterday morning, after much needed sleeping in, I went into town with my mom to pick up a few things.  I was a bit hungry when we returned so I made me a dark chocolate/green smoothie

I used the following:

  • 8 oz of almond milk
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 tbls of PB2
  • 1 tbls dark chocolate cocoa
  • 1 vary large handful of spinach

So a little while later I changed into my running gear and headed to the treadmill.  I warmed up with a brisk 10 minute walk and then cranked up the speed.  I’ll be honest with you, I was a bit nervous to do this.  I have never ran at that speed before and I just knew that something bad was going to happen.  So I jumped on and it felt great!!  About half way in I started to think….whew, this might leave a mark.  Before I knew it though, it was over!  7:53!!

About 20 minutes later I needed something to eat….

So good!   But, interesting to eat with the braces… Winking smile

Today is supposed to be just as beautiful as yesterday!  So I am about to enjoy some breakfast and start my day with some church.

Have a great day!!

Breakfast:

This morning I made my usual bowl of oatmeal and nut butter and I thought that I would be a genius and put some chia seeds in there for some added nutrients.  Fail.  I forgot about the metal in my mouth (how I have no idea) and realized that I can’t eat those things!!!   Double fail.

So, I made two pumpkin spice waffle and three turkey links.  Win.  Winking smile
