Meal planning Suggestions?

on February 11, 2013

Good Morning my friends!  How was your weekend?  I don’t know about you, but it just flew by to me and then it was over.  I mean, I can’t believe that it’s Monday again.  I am off this coming weekend and guess what my friends…..it’s a long one!  I will also be getting my braces on in exactly one week and a day. Smile

Workout:

Three rounds of the following:

1/2 mile run

25-50 air squats

Weight loss:

So I have about another 10 pounds to go to be where I want to be.   Hear me out, I don’t want to lose the 10 pounds for vain reasons, I want to lose them so that I can better function in my body and feel good.  I feel TONS better these days!  I mean, I can’t even tell you.  After many months of trying to figure out what works for me, I think I have found a balance.   That’s the most important thing to remember.  What works for me, may not work for someone else.

Some of the tips that I have picked up the last few months are:

  • if it tempts you, don’t keep it in the house.  I love sweets!  But I know that they do tempt me, so I can’t keep them in the house.  Some can just go with one, but I can’t do that.
  • Go easy on yourself……emotionally.
  • water, water, water.
  • get fresh new ideas.  I follow a lot of great blogs and I always love finding new ways to do things.  Trying new healthy foods.
  • Sleep.
  • Follow your own heart.  I find that when I am at peace with myself, things really do work together.

Breakfast:

I think that I have lived off of this for two months now!  Oatmeal and almond butter!

Meal planning:

So I want to be better at meal planning.  Breakfast is never hard and I get my lunches/snacks together the night before, but it’s dinners that I have an issue with.  I only have to cook for myself and you think that this would be easy, but it’s actually not.  I have turkey burgers, chicken, fish as the main course, but I usually don’t know which one I will have until I get home from work.  I want to fix this. How do you meal plan??  If you are cooking for yourself,  how do you meal plan?  What nights do you get your meals together and how long does it usually take you to pick them out?

Since I get home so late (after 6:00) it’s really hard to want to cook anything.  That’s why I really love just throwing the said above on the George Foreman or in the oven.

Any suggestions or ideas are very welcome!!

I am off to get ready for work!  Have a super day!

  1. I always meal plan before I do my weekly grocery shopping. I usually look and see what I have in my kitchen and then look through recipe books and figure out everything else that I need. I pre-make some healthy snacks and do some food prep on Sunday night.

  2. eek I don’t meal plan at all, so bad. I should get more into it. maybe save recipes and try a new one like once or twice a week

I try to meal plan…but it rarely works out haha. I have ideas of what I want to make and any cooking usually takes place on the weekends since I don’t get home to after 6 at the earliest as well and I never feel like cooking. Usually, I make my protein, roasted veggies and potatoes or pasta on Sunday afternoon/evening and either reheat that for dinner or make brinner…I can handle pancakes and veggie scrambles after work but that’s about as complicated as I can get 😉

  4. I am not great at meal planning 😛 In saying that, we have some regular meal nights that really help – every other Thursday we make pizza, on Sunday I often try new recipes, and so on. That makes a big difference as there are some nights I don’t have to think too much about. I like planning around fresh produce too, depending on what is in season and looks good 🙂
