All clear

Well hello there!  It has turned out to be a beautiful day!  I went for a run this morning to clear out all of the fog….

3 Mile run and 20 box jumps later……. all clear.

 

Some friends of my parents came into town and we all went to have lunch together…..the super cool thing was that our restaurant was on the White River.

I meant to share this smoothie recipe with you the other day:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 scoop of whey protein powder
  • 2 tbsp of maple almond butter
  • blend

 

And that’s it!

The other day I had a conversation with a girl about weight loss.  It didn’t last very long, but she had mentioned that she was starting her new “diet” Monday and that she will be taking these injections to help her lose the weight.  It’s called the HCG diet.  Well this intrigued me so I looked it up.  Let me make it clear that I am all for the natural way when it comes to losing weight.  It’s calories in, calories out people.  This is no way any support of this “diet”, it’s just knowledge. 

 

Here’s how it works:

 

  • You restrict your diet, or food intake, to 500 calories a day.  Mostly organic, unprocessed foods, but 500 calories. 
  • You also restrict yourself to these injections daily (or you can use drops)
  • Stick to this for 45 days to cleanse your body, help your metabolism, and lose weight
  • Did I mention that you will also starve?

 

A couple of things: (from me)

 

  • I think it’s pretty impossible to stick to this and still get in enough nutrients
  • HCG is not something that you can get over the counter; it must be given by a doctor
  • you will lose muscle mass because your body will be in starvation mode
  • you will gain the weight back

I know it’s hard to lose the weight, trust me I know.  And, I am not against certain ways to do it.  I just think it’s about being smart when it comes to your body.  Thinking about what you are putting in it and taking the time to listen to it.  Do I do that all of the time?  Of course not!  But it is a daily, conscious effort to live a healthy lifestyle.  I like to doing it and l like helping others learn new ways to do it.  Not everything is going to work for you and what worked for me, may not work for another, but being healthy is the most important thing. 

 

Encourage each other

Take time to listen to your body

Eat right

Eat wrong on occasion (but not every occasion)

Read up on everything

and then read some more

Don’t put chemicals in your body

Be kind to your body, you’re the one living in it

  1. Wow! I have never heard of the HCG diet but it doesn’t seem like the ‘healthiest’ way to loose weight – why are doctors okaying this??? I am totally in agreement with you about living a healthy lifestyle and gradually loosing the weight. No – it doesn’t happen overnight but yes- it is easier to maintain once you loose! I am living proof! I lost 30-35 pounds over the past 2 years and it didn’t come easy but has been much easier to maintain now that I have healthy habits -you know?

    Maple almond butter sounds delicious but I’m not sure it’s sold here. The diet looks completely insane, 500 calories is way to low, among other things. I had no idea you had a 100 pound weight loss, that is so amazing and inspiring, a very, very belated congratulations to you.
