9 Habits that….

Hey gang, how’s your morning going?  Today is a rest day for me and I am pretty happy about that.  Well, I say that but I really do love working out and it kind of makes me sad that I don’t have anything on the schedule.  Winking smile

I may do some yoga tonight that releases tension in the lower back and will relax me.  Yoga is cool like that.

 

 

9 Habits That Can Sabotage Weight loss:

 

1.    Not enough water.  Yesterday, while I was at work, I noticed that I hadn’t gone to the bathroom very much.  It dawned on me that I hadn’t had a lot of water!  Not only that, but I felt pretty tired and that was definitely a sign that I had not had enough.  I love water.  I really do.  When I go out with friends, I always get water.  It’s also the first thing that I do when I get up in the morning…..rehydrate.  How much should you drink?   A good way to figure out how much you should take in is to divide your body weight in half and shoot for that number.

2.    Poor Preparation.  To be honest, I was never a fan of meal planning, but I have slowly gotten on board with this.  Especially at dinner.  Breakfast is a no brainer, if I have things on hand, but when it came to dinner I would just figure it out when I got home.  Bad idea.  Now I figure out what I want to eat and then cook it on Sunday’s.  I even get my snacks for the week ready.  Being prepared allows me to know what I am going to take in, especially when those afternoon cravings set in.  It’s the worst not having brought enough snacks to work!

3.    Not enough Protein.  The body uses twice as much energy processing protein than it does the carbs. 

4.    Too many liquid calories.  This one is a tough one for me.  I love love love coffee.  Especially those ones that you can get at coffee shops.  With the colder temps looming around the corner, I can just hear those specialty coffee’s calling my name. 

5.    Not enough sleep.  I love sleep, but most of all I love having sleep schedule.  I am in bed by 9:00 and usually out by 9:30.  It hasn’t always been this way and every now and again it will get off, but for the most part it’s usually how my nights go.  Going to bed this early allows me to start my days off on the right foot too.  Not getting enough sleep will also throw those good ole hormones off that make you crave sugar and make you hungrier than you really are.

6.    Skipping Breakfast.  This one is not a problem for me………thank the Lord.  One of my favorite things in the world is breakfast.  The possibilities are endless!  I always tell people who are trying to lose weight….”fit breakfast in”…. 

7.    Shopping the center isles.  Oh those grocery stores no where to get ya…..  When you go grocery shopping, always stick to the outside of the store.  That’s where the good stuff is. 

8.   No weights.  Ok ladies, don’t be afraid to do some lifting.  One of the things that I have fallen in love with lately is lifting weights.  Muscle burns fat.  ‘Nuff said.  When it comes to lifting weights, there is an after-burn that can last for hours.  This burn is a good thing.

9.    Quitting.  I know it’s hard, trust me I do, but what you gain far out weighs the hard stuff.  Keep going.  Don’t give up.  I promise you will reach a point and it will all just click in your head and you will love that fact that you are making healthy choices.  Then it will spill over into every aspect of your life.  Love yourself enough to keep going.  Keep making the small changes that will eventually turn into big ones. 

 

I am not a fan of the word “diet”.  It’s really just about making healthy changes that are going to stick with you.  You can do it.  If I could come to your house every morning to work out with you, I would.  If I could come to your house everyday to plan out your meals, I would.   With the Rocky theme playing in the background.   Winking smile  But you don’t need that.  You need to know that this is something that you can do and that you are worthy enough to take that step toward a healthy lifestyle.

  2. I really do too to be honest….you would think that it wouldn’t be a big deal with the summer days, but it is! 🙂
