Trying to find balance..

I hope you had an amazing weekend! 


Last week went by really fast because it was the first week at my new job.  As I have mentioned before, the company that I worked for just over 12 years merged with another company.  I do work for a bank and if you are a banker and have been through a merger, you know exactly how hectic and crazy it can be. 

When I found out that the company was going to be sold, I knew immediately that some were going to lose their jobs.  I had made a conscious effort not to think about it too much but inside I knew the possibility that I could be one of the ones that would be let go. 

A few months went by and finally the big day had come where we would find out.

I knew deep down that this moment was going to happen. 

Being let go.

The day that I found out I called my dad and just cried and cried to him over the phone.  Not so much that I was being let go, but that all this time that I had put in with the company was just going to end.  Over. No more.  It was just a really sad day.  And not just for me.  There were others that were being affected as well. 

But here is the cool thing….

The next day I got up and it didn’t seem to bother me that I wasn’t being retained.  I knew that God was going to take care of me and that no matter what happened, He was still in control.  I knew that He was going to take care of me.

And that is exactly what He did!

The short of it is this…

I have a new position with the new company.

It’s closer to home.

I am working with all new co-workers.

I really really like it!!

I can’t wait to get completely trained and get going! Smile



Do you ever get frustrated with healthy eating and working out?

One of my biggest frustrations is that sometimes they are never on the same page!  The other struggle that I have been having is some of the changes that my body is going through when you age.  It’s almost like I am having to adjust and I just don’t want to! 




Part of working out and eating right is that you have to find out what works best for you.  I have seem to have forgotten how to do that.  My eating is off.  I’ve put on about 10 pounds.  My workouts are disorganized.  My sleeping, or the lack there of, is way off. 

Nothing seems to be right and it’s driving me crazy!

My body just seems to crave junk food and then when you give in, it just keeps wanting it.  And wanting it. 


Any advice would be great!



I did make this the other day and it was delicious! 


I just want to:

Eat better

eat less sugar

drink more water

sleep better

be consistent with my workouts

meal plan better

eat my veggies

organize all of the above…

Easy right??

Ready to go!

Well hey there!  How’s your week going so far?  I have two weeks remaining at my current position and it seems to be going by really fast, but I am so excited to start my new journey.   I actually had the opportunity to start training this past Saturday and really enjoyed it!  I was able to see where my desk will be and met some of the staff that I’ll be working with.  Smile

Change is scary, but it can also be exciting.  I think that even when it’s scary, there is a sense of excitement. 


One of the other changes that I have been contemplating is a change here on my blog.  My life is going in a completely different direction lately and I want this place to reflect that.  Oh I want it to incorporate my faith, fitness and laughter, but I also want it to incorporate more.  Things that women my age are faced with while living in faith and fitness and laughter. 

Just something that I have been thinking about. 



I picked up some chicken burgers the other day at the store and I love them!  As you can see, I also like pickles!


The other day on my way home from work I stopped to take this picture…



I pass this house twice a day going to and coming from work and I have never stopped to look at it.  I noticed the flowers and how they were in a straight line and I thought, “you know, someone must have planted them that way.”  Then I noticed, of course, that no one obviously lives there and hasn’t for a long time and I thought how much history must be there.  That someone took the time to plant the flowers that way.  I wonder how it looked when it had someone living in it.  I think it’s quite quaint if you ask me. 





So I am about to get my sweat on and I thought I forgot to tell you what else is going on at work!  We are doing this really cool fitness challenge called Blue and You Fitness.  It’s through the insurance company that we have and I love it!

You first sign up for the challenge by joining a team.  I joined a team that is nearby where I live and will be working called, #No Excuses.  You then commit to work out for 30 minutes a day and by doing so you earn points! 

So as you can probably guess I am about to get my sweat on…



queue chocolate….  lol!   We had a customer come in yesterday morning and drop off some chocolate.  We love our customers!  Of course we waited to dig into them because it was still morning.  Okay…..Who am I kidding….we tore into them!! 



I just ask that you bare with me.  There are lots of changes going on in my life right now and I want it to reflect in my blog.  I just don’t know what that looks like yet.  I want to post more and lately I just don’t find it exciting nor do I have a lot of time to do so anymore.  I am hoping that when things settle down at work and I get on more of a routine I will have time to do so.

Hang in there with me. 


Don’t forget to work out today!!  And drink water.  And hug somebody.  And wave at a stranger.  Stop to take a picture of an abandoned house.

Workout Breakdown

Morning my friends!!  How are you this Thursday morning!?


I’ve just finished my workout for the day and I wanted to give you a breakdown.


I really like Amy Dixon’s series of HIIT workouts.  (high intensity interval training)  She has three DVD’s out but I only have the first two.






I am currently doing the Breathless Body: The Edge

I love it!

It’s about 53 minutes long from warm-up to the cool-down….

Four circuits

Three different exercises in each circuit

Three rounds each

Three different levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced)

The levels I love because you don’t have to limit yourself to a certain level.  If you want to try the advance on a certain exercise, then you can do that.  The other thing that I like is that Amy is right there with you the entire workout!  Doing it with you!






Circuit One:

  • Cross country
  • Russian dance
  • Plank tuck-in’s


Circuit Two:

  • Squat jacks
  • Forward and back
  • parallel skier


Circuit Three:

  • X lunge jumps
  • broad jumps
  • Plank quarter turn


Circuit Four:

  • Up and over
  • Tuck Jumps
  • Plank jacks

6 minutes of taking it to the Edge!

  • Each exercise for 30 seconds with no break in between


Cool Down


One of the most important things to remember when you are working out to a DVD (for me anyway) is to not be so hard on yourself.  Remember to just keep moving and don’t give up on yourself!

God’s Perfect Timing

Good morning my friends!  Long time no talk!  Smile      It’s been a while since I have blogged but life is still pretty busy and finding the time to devote a couple of hours has been a bit difficult.  Some super changes have also been going on too!  Job, body, life! 

I really love the many ways that we can speak to God.  In our actions, through prayer, in silent moments when we really have nothing to say.  So many ways.  Many months back things at work started to change.  The company I work for started to go through a merger and things were kind of up in the air.  Most days there was always something new that had changed.  Of course with mergers comes an adjustment in staffing.  In the back of your mind you know that someone has to be let go but you never really think that it’s going to be you.  After a couple of months, the process was started and ultimately I was not retained. 

You don’t really know how you are going to deal with things until you are faced with them.  Oh I had my cry but in the end I just gave it over to God because it was just too big for me to deal with.  I came to terms with the fact that I just wasn’t in control of the situation.  In the end?  Because I am not at liberty to discuss the details of everything, I will tell you that everything worked out and I will be starting a new journey with the company that purchased us.  It’s closer to home.  It’s a new work environment.  I will also be able to keep the time that I have put in at my current job.   I will start this new journey on March 24th and I am really excited about it! Smile 

God’s timing is perfect. 





Every moment is a teaching moment.  You just have to take the time to look around you and see what it is.  What is He trying to show me?  Is it about me?  Who am I to talk to?  We just aren’t here to do whatever we want to and whenever we want to.  We do have purpose and we do have the ability to deal with things bigger than us. 

When we were created in His image, we were made to deal with BIG things and because Jesus overcame the Cross and the world, we can draw on that kind of strength.  It’s in us when we have Him dwelling inside of us. 




I will say that since the holidays my eating has been way off track.  I still incorporate healthy stuff but there is also junk.  Mainly because my body is dealing with some changes and hormones but oh my goodness!!  I have been inconsistent with my workouts and can’t seem to find a program that I like and want to stick with.  Pump, running, DVD’s….. agh!!  Overload!!

I just want to eat clean!!  And I want my workouts and eating clean to be on the same page!  Because when they are not on the same page, I feel horrible and my workouts are not great. 


I’ve even thought about doing the Advocare 24 Day Challenge but don’t want to invest in it if I am not willing to put in the time. 

Any suggestions on how to re-energize this???

What do you do when you want to kick start your healthy living??


I’ve starting attending another church near where I live and really love it!  This has been something that has been weighing on me heavily.  Even after I made the decision to start looking, I felt so much guilt over not attending the same church as my friends and family that I just stopped going.


I really really like this church and am excited about some growth in my walk.



Since we last spoke, I have had a birthday!!

My cat Ghost has been wanting to cuddle every morning now…. He gets under the covers and cuddles right up next to me… So sweet!


Today is my mom’s birthday so last night I wanted to take my parents out to eat…




Happy birthday mom!!  I love you very much!  I love you for the woman that you are and for raising me to be the woman that I am.
