Nicene Creed

Do you ever wonder why, as a Christian, you believe what you believe?  Is it because you have been raised in church your entire life and it’s all that you know or is it a conscious decision that you made to follow Christ?

Before I go any further, I want to share with you the Nicene Creed that originated in 325 A.D.

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered, died and was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father [and the Son]. Who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified. Who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

This version was adopted and at the First Council of Constantinople (381 A.D.)

After reading this, I just become so extremely thankful that God places people where He places them and when.  His timing is perfect.  Always.  I mean He placed it in the hearts of these men to preserve why we believe what we believe because at the time there were other men trying to falsify the truth (Arian Controversy).  Arius (318 A.D. presbyter under Bishop Alexander of Alexandria ) defined the nature of Christ as being different from that of God and viewed Christ as a created being, greater than humans and worthy of worship but less than God.

Even now, we have people that want to make Jesus something other than what He is.

The oldest copy of the Nicene Creed to date.  Dating back to the 5th century

May we be truly overwhelmed with what Christ did for us over 2000 years ago and remember why we believe what we believe.

Have a beautiful day 🙂

Do you ever just have one of those days where the only thing running through your mind are the words, “you are not enough”?  When Friday’s are supposed to be filled with “weekend” thoughts, mine had negative ones.  If I could choose one struggle, having those types of thoughts would not be it.

Why do we have them?

I mean, I am a believer in Christ and yet there are times I can look at myself and think, ‘’’you’re ugly”, “why do you even bother”, “you will never be thin enough”.

Every time I think those thoughts, and let me tell ya there are a lot of them, I diminish one of my favorite passages in God’s Word.

How reassuring from the creator of the entire world!!

And yet still we doubt.

Everyday He goes out before us and prepares every minuet detail and yet we don’t trust Him.

We don’t have to start out days out by saying we aren’t good enough.  Jesus gave His life so that we don’t have to!  When cut ourselves down, we are telling God that Jesus wasn’t enough.

So this is my prayer for today….. for you and for myself.

That we will live boldly the life that God has given us.

That we will love boldly.

That we will walk confidently.

That we will know we are enough.

That we remember that Jesus made us the way we are.

How we are.

When we are.

Who we are.

I hope you have a wonderful and amazing Saturday!

Jesus Sees.

Hello beautiful!

This morning as I was on my way to work, I was listening to Meredith Andrews new CD Deeper

If you haven’t listened to this, you must stop what you are doing and get it!

There is just something about this album that just speaks to me at this time in my life. The very last song on the album is called Jesus Sees and I can’t even explain to you how beautiful this song is.  I know for myself, there was a time in my life that no matter what I did, it was never good enough and it was certainly never good enough to be forgiven for the way I was living my life.

You simply push all of it aside and go on being miserable.

But I am here to tell you sweet friends that we don’t have to live our lives like that.

Jesus sees you.

Some of my favorite words in the song go like this….

He is near to the brokenhearted

closer still than the air you breathe

every tear falling in the darkness

Jesus Sees.

He is faithful in every season

you are never beyond His reach

every hurt that you thought was hidden

Jesus Sees.

I mean how amazingly beautiful is that?!

We really have to hang on to the fact that He created the heavens and the earth and yet He knows our name.

No matter what I’ve done in my past, I know that He has forgiven me for that.  All I simply have to do is ask with a pure heart.

I don’t have to carry around that shame and guilt of my past.  It no longer is a noose hanging around my neck.  We don’t have to wear a neon sign that tells everyone our struggles.

Jesus Sees.

Isn’t she sweet!?  Emma 🙂

Being Real

Well it’s Monday!  And I am kinda excited about it!!  I haven’t done a lot of posting about fitness in here for a while now.  Oh I’ve been workout out but it’s not something I wanted to share because the

I can’t even explain to you what happens to the brain when you start getting older and you begin to psych yourself out about what you can or can’t do physically.  It’s rather annoying.

I mean goodness gracious I thought it would be easier than this!

You want to go back to the days of just popping up out of bed and getting to your workout.  But noooooo!  You actually have to warm up for the warm-up!  And even then you can risk pulling muscle.  For the love of Pete!

Can’t we Pre-menopausal women catch a break!?  🙂

So yes it’s March and I’m not really one for making resolutions, but I do want to set some goals.

This happened this morning!  Day One/Week One of 22 Hard Corps! Cardio 1

Not that I am completely against having a gym membership but I love that I can do my workouts from home.  That’s one of my favorite benefits of getting the programs through Beachbody.  🙂

With all of that said, it’s time to refocus and get serious!

Keep Going

Happy Sunday to you!!

I just got home from church and I wanted to share something that was on my mind 🙂

Let me remind you today my dear friends.

No matter how dark.

No matter how hard.

No matter how difficult.

No matter how life altering.

No matter how much the sorrow hurts.

You can know and cling to the fact that Jesus loves you and He can restore you.

Cling to the promises that are true.

And when you think that you can’t go on.

He will give you just enough strength to keep going….

and keep going

and keep going.

This song is life right now….. I love it and just can’t get enough of it.
