About Me

My journey started in 2001 when I knew some changes had to be made in my life.  I topped the scales at 250 pounds and to my surprise seemed confused as to how I got that way.  Around this time my brother and his wife decided to go on a cruise, so we decided to make it a family affair and include myself and my sister-n-laws sister, along with her husband.  The girls decided that we should try to lose a few pounds before the cruise.  Secretly to myself I thought, “a FEW pounds??”  I knew deep down that I needed to lose way much more than that.  So I got serious and started the Weight Watchers program.  A couple of months later a tragedy happened and my sister-n-laws father passed away.  We knew that we would not take the trip, but I wanted to continue on the program I had started.  By September of ’01 I was down 55 pounds!  I couldn’t believe it!  That is what I really love about the WW program.  It taught me how to eat and make good choices.  I won’t give you a play by-play, but I made other changes along the way like; getting a gym membership, cutting out soft drinks, no chocolate or candy (a toughy), etc.  The final step for me was when I was in Mexico on a mission trip.  I still weighed around 200 pounds around this time, but just kept toggling back and forth.  I know God has called me into the mission field, to what capacity I am not sure, but I do know one thing, I can’t do the things that I feel God has called me to do with the body that I had.  So when I got home I got hard-core about the weight loss and it fell off.  Now, I will be the first to tell you that I am in no way on a “diet”.  I think that it is a lifestyle and that you are faced with small decisions on a daily basis.  I am single and I don’t have any children and you know what?  That is ok with me.  I know that my life isn’t going to look like everyone else’s and that is ok with me too.  I started this journey with absolutely no self-worth and now, God has blessed me with the endurance to maintain this focus.
