Faith Fitness and Laughter

No matter what you or I have done, Grace accepts us.

Undeserved, yes, but there is so much beauty in realizing that the act of Jesus giving up everything so that our sins are covered… that’s grace.

Grace tells me that I am loved beyond all reason.

Grace tells me that I am worth it.

Grace tells me that I will always be loved by someone.

Grace tells me that I am a princess.

Grace tells me that I am extraordinary.

Grace tells me that my past is dead and buried.

Grace tells me that I can be who God created me to be.

Grace tells me that in the end, negative words from someone else will never matter.

What’s To Know

Getting to know someone can be a challenge sometimes, especially when distances is involved.  There’s some anonymity involved when your trying to get to know someone when you can’t be around them all of the time.  Or, in some cases, you’re not around them at all.

How much do you share?

What should the focus be?

How much do you invest?

If you know me at all, I am a complete open book.  I even have a tendency to over-share on occasion…… ask me anything and I’ll tell you.   I think that when you share who you are, you risk being vulnerable.  Something that can be kinda scary…. But I also think that there is something beautiful in sharing who you are.  You never know who you might reach.  Who you will impact.

I thought I would take some time and share some of who I am with you.

Oddities and all….

  • I love things to be clean.  I like to keep a clean kitchen most of all.  Don’t set a dish by the sink, you’re done with it… just didn’t know you were.
  • I get pleasure in mowing the yard.  It’s kinda weird but it’s therapeutic for me to be out there cutting the grass…..I love it.  No really, I do.
  • I have this uncanny sense of smell.  It’s a gift…… and also a curse.
  • My favorite books to read are history books.  I took a theology class for fun.  I also like dystopia themed novels… Divergent anyone?
  • I wanted to be a dancer when I was a kid.  The only thing?  I like Twinkies too. And cookies.  Lots of cookies….
  • Some of my favorite memories as a child was going to see my Nanny in Mississippi.  We would go in the middle of the night to miss out on the traffic and the heat.  It was a lot of fun 🙂

I am not even sure what year this is….

  • I love learning about history.  We’ve established that I like to read about it but I also love to just experience it.  Learning about why we have certain things and how it all came to be about.  I just find it fascinating.
  • One of the ways that I learn is by memorization.  When I took some seminary classes, the only way I could learn was by writing it down.  Over and over.  A lot.  Like, A LOT.
  • I think it’s important to find a mentor.  Someone you can look up to and learn from.  Someone who seeks God and is willing to tell you the truth, even if it hurts.  Thank you Bro. Joe!
  • The thought of children in other countries and even here in the United States going to bed without being told they are loved breaks my heart into a billion pieces.
  • I didn’t have my first real relationship until I was 30.  I’m 40.
  • I used to weigh 250 pounds!!

I think my brother had a 26 inch waist here…..And this is not at my heaviest.

  • I love to hike….

  • One of my strengths is also my weakness.  Compassion.
  • I wouldn’t really consider myself a leader but rather a follower.
  • I can also be pushy.  If I see something that I want, I just push and push until I get it.  But in most cases, it wasn’t really mine to begin with.

I could keep going!  I say this in closing…..

To know someone takes effort and willingness to do so.  You have to decided whether that person is worth getting to know and to be apart of your life.  Will they add to it or take something away from it?  Do they push you to be a better person?  Are they on your team?

You have to decide.

Hello my sweet friends!

Today I wanted to talk about what has been on my heart lately.

It’s such a beautiful word isn’t it?

For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.  And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.

Colossians 1:19-23

How does a believer respond to being hurt, rejected, offended and abused?

Every reconciliation, requires the death of someone else.  The one who is offended takes the first step.

The one who is offended takes the initiative and must choose to die to self.  Self desire.  Self ambition.  Selfish ways.

The one who is wronged has to be willing to suffer criticism, blame, accusations, rejection and ridicule.

Change of attitude must occur.

We must reach out in forgiving love to the other person.

We cannot mix light and darkness.

When we have sin in our lives, we are trying to mix the two.  By tolerating sin, we become miserable and try to work with something that doesn’t fit.  He will not give you peace with sin in your life.

We can always blame something on someone else but what it comes down to is your relationship with Jesus.

If we answer the knock at the door, He will come into our lives and completely transform it.

He will love us like we’ve never been loved before.

He’ll change us.

He’ll clean our lives up.

He’ll give us peace.

Have a beautiful day!

Jesus Sees.

Hello beautiful!

This morning as I was on my way to work, I was listening to Meredith Andrews new CD Deeper

If you haven’t listened to this, you must stop what you are doing and get it!

There is just something about this album that just speaks to me at this time in my life. The very last song on the album is called Jesus Sees and I can’t even explain to you how beautiful this song is.  I know for myself, there was a time in my life that no matter what I did, it was never good enough and it was certainly never good enough to be forgiven for the way I was living my life.

You simply push all of it aside and go on being miserable.

But I am here to tell you sweet friends that we don’t have to live our lives like that.

Jesus sees you.

Some of my favorite words in the song go like this….

He is near to the brokenhearted

closer still than the air you breathe

every tear falling in the darkness

Jesus Sees.

He is faithful in every season

you are never beyond His reach

every hurt that you thought was hidden

Jesus Sees.

I mean how amazingly beautiful is that?!

We really have to hang on to the fact that He created the heavens and the earth and yet He knows our name.

No matter what I’ve done in my past, I know that He has forgiven me for that.  All I simply have to do is ask with a pure heart.

I don’t have to carry around that shame and guilt of my past.  It no longer is a noose hanging around my neck.  We don’t have to wear a neon sign that tells everyone our struggles.

Jesus Sees.

Isn’t she sweet!?  Emma 🙂

Keep Going

Happy Sunday to you!!

I just got home from church and I wanted to share something that was on my mind 🙂

Let me remind you today my dear friends.

No matter how dark.

No matter how hard.

No matter how difficult.

No matter how life altering.

No matter how much the sorrow hurts.

You can know and cling to the fact that Jesus loves you and He can restore you.

Cling to the promises that are true.

And when you think that you can’t go on.

He will give you just enough strength to keep going….

and keep going

and keep going.

This song is life right now….. I love it and just can’t get enough of it.

Hands That Are Holding Me by Meredith Andrews
