Getting ready for the week!

So now that Christmas is over lots of people will be setting some new goals for the New Year.  What goals or things do you want to set for yourself this coming year?

How in the world does the year go by so fast??  Before you know it, time has flown and you wonder….Did I reach any of the goals that I wanted to meet?  I’ll be honest.  I am horrible at reaching goals or maybe it’s the sticking to it. 

Being a perfectionist sometimes works against me.

 

Here are some of the things that I want to work on:

  1. Quiet time.  One of the main goals that I have this coming year (and even right now) is to be deliberate in the time that I spend with Christ.  Any type of relationship takes effort and nourishing.  The same can be said for our relationship with Him. 
  2. Eating better.  Get rid of the sugar!! Just meal planning and meal prepping isn’t good enough. I have to stick to that plan and not consume a giant amount of sugar or sugar containing foods.  Don’t get me wrong…..too much restricting can lead to binge eating (for me anyway) but I do think there must be a balance.  For the body to work the way it’s supposed to, it must be fueled properly.
  3. Budget better.  I want to find a budget that works for me.
  4. I want to learn how to make the following: jam, a whole chicken and marshmallows. Of course this will not be eaten together… 😉
  5. Start a cross stitching project.  Years back my mom taught me how to cross stitch and I did lots of little things and a couple of big things but then I just put it down.  I have something that I want to start and so I would like to pick that up again.

There are other things that I want to do and things that I want to invest in.

 

I did a little meal prepping yesterday:

As for my workouts, I am sticking to the 21 Day Fix program and Piyo.  Love these!!

I had to work Saturday (only three hours) and since it was cold and rainy, this is how I spent the rest of the day.

This is my sweet man Rocky.  When I took this picture, he was kneading biscuits and he was all business.  This lil guy was found by a neighbor of ours in a fast food restaurants dumpster.  Really?  How can someone actually just throw away an animal? 

Anyway, he’s been with us ever since.  He’s huge but has the wimpiest meow.  🙂

A little bit of Piyo

Oh my word Happy Friday!!!!   I can not be more happy to see this day!

We are celebrating this lil mans birthday tonight!  I can’t wait for him to see what I got him!  And of course the cake.  I love cake.  🙂

I just love this kid.

 

This morning when I got up I felt really good!  This getting older stuff I want to do gracefully so I’ll take it when I can get it.

For my workout this morning, I did Piyo Buns and holy buns!!  There were a couple of times that I thought, “you know, my legs are going to collapse underneath me!”  lol!

But I really love the Piyo workouts and so I’m gonna stick with it.

I cannot promote this program enough.  Piyo helps you strengthen your muscles and flexibility all the while you are just using your body weight.  I have to admit that when I finish a workout, I feel bad-A.  😉

Another reason that I am so excited that the weekend is here?  Finally getting the decorations out tomorrow and putting up the tree!!

From Crazy for Crust

 

Healthy living:

If you have been living the healthy lifestyle for a long time or just now making some healthy decisions, you know that having others around you that make similar decisions is a wonderful feeling.  A really good friend of mine that I work with is making some healthy eating decisions and it helps me so much while I am at work to make better decisions.  She loves Rachel Ray and she loves to cook and she has made some pretty amazing things lately!  It makes me want to get in the kitchen and cook!  Not just bake.  😉

One of the things that I want to try cooking is a whole chicken.  Something that I have never even attempted to cook.  I want to make some cauliflower mash, Brussels sprout salad with cranberries,  roasted sweet potatoes with rosemary.  Doesn’t that sound good?!

Something else that I have never attempted to make….lasagna, the healthy version.

God’s Perfect Timing

Good morning my friends!  Long time no talk!  Smile      It’s been a while since I have blogged but life is still pretty busy and finding the time to devote a couple of hours has been a bit difficult.  Some super changes have also been going on too!  Job, body, life! 

I really love the many ways that we can speak to God.  In our actions, through prayer, in silent moments when we really have nothing to say.  So many ways.  Many months back things at work started to change.  The company I work for started to go through a merger and things were kind of up in the air.  Most days there was always something new that had changed.  Of course with mergers comes an adjustment in staffing.  In the back of your mind you know that someone has to be let go but you never really think that it’s going to be you.  After a couple of months, the process was started and ultimately I was not retained. 

You don’t really know how you are going to deal with things until you are faced with them.  Oh I had my cry but in the end I just gave it over to God because it was just too big for me to deal with.  I came to terms with the fact that I just wasn’t in control of the situation.  In the end?  Because I am not at liberty to discuss the details of everything, I will tell you that everything worked out and I will be starting a new journey with the company that purchased us.  It’s closer to home.  It’s a new work environment.  I will also be able to keep the time that I have put in at my current job.   I will start this new journey on March 24th and I am really excited about it! Smile 

God’s timing is perfect.

Humbling.

 

Every moment is a teaching moment.  You just have to take the time to look around you and see what it is.  What is He trying to show me?  Is it about me?  Who am I to talk to?  We just aren’t here to do whatever we want to and whenever we want to.  We do have purpose and we do have the ability to deal with things bigger than us. 

When we were created in His image, we were made to deal with BIG things and because Jesus overcame the Cross and the world, we can draw on that kind of strength.  It’s in us when we have Him dwelling inside of us. 

 

 

Body:

I will say that since the holidays my eating has been way off track.  I still incorporate healthy stuff but there is also junk.  Mainly because my body is dealing with some changes and hormones but oh my goodness!!  I have been inconsistent with my workouts and can’t seem to find a program that I like and want to stick with.  Pump, running, DVD’s….. agh!!  Overload!!

I just want to eat clean!!  And I want my workouts and eating clean to be on the same page!  Because when they are not on the same page, I feel horrible and my workouts are not great. 

Frustrating.

I’ve even thought about doing the Advocare 24 Day Challenge but don’t want to invest in it if I am not willing to put in the time. 

Any suggestions on how to re-energize this???

What do you do when you want to kick start your healthy living??

Church:

I’ve starting attending another church near where I live and really love it!  This has been something that has been weighing on me heavily.  Even after I made the decision to start looking, I felt so much guilt over not attending the same church as my friends and family that I just stopped going.

Ugh.

I really really like this church and am excited about some growth in my walk.

Café Domingo!

Morning Smile   I don’t know about you, but the time change has me kind of screwed up.  Yesterday, I forgot to set my clocks back an hour and so when I rolled over at “5:30”, I got up and started my routine.  When I turned the tv on in the living room, I immediately realized that it was 4:30!!  Ugh.  I just stayed up anyway.  

The weather yesterday was just amazing!  After church, I took my niece and nephew to get some lunch and then to Wal-mart for some salad fixings.  With the weather being so nice, I came home and spent some time outside.  I am pretty sure there was coffee involved too.  Winking smile

I took this picture of my nephew to send to my bf Diahann and her son Calvin.  Calvin and Dalton had just struck up a little friendship right before they moved to Ohio…. 

 

By 7:75 however, I was ready to go to bed! 

 

I am off today, but don’t have anything pressing to do…  I need to bring in some plants from outside, so I might do that.   The final book in the Divergent series came out last month, so I might run to the store and get it and just lay up and read all day!

 

 

Workouts for the week:

 

Monday:    Pump and Burn/30 minutes

Tuesday:    30 minute run

Wednesday:    Pump Challenge/25 minutes and 20 minute ab routine

Thursday:    yoga

Friday:    Pump and Burn/30 minutes

Saturday:    rest

Sunday:    20 minute ab routine/45 minute

 

 

 

Can I rant for a minute?

Why not, this is my house….

 

This past week I was reminded that we are an imperfect people.  No matter how much you try to convince a person of something, you don’t have any control over what they believe.  You just don’t.  What you do have control over is your reaction and your words.  

Can I use my words to tear someone down?  You bet.  Sometimes, I can even think that I feel better when I do it. 

 

I was also reminded that as a blogger, you don’t have any control over who reads your blog.  You just don’t. 

With that said, I feel it’s important to not feel like you have to sensor yourself……………..in your house. 

This is a journal and I should feel comfortable enough to share the things that are going on in my life.  I shouldn’t and don’t have to explain myself.

 

The other the thing that I learned this past week?

Sometimes women can revert back to fifth grade antics.  (me included)

While I was in Ohio with my best friend Diahann (whom I miss terribly!!!), the Café Domingo is what I drank and just loved it!  Sadly, they don’t sell it anywhere near where I live…….so, I got online and ordered me a big box full!

Work Out Routine Love

So I am ready to get on a normal workout routine again!  I really love the Les Mills Pump series so I am going to go back to what I love. 

 

Monday:    Pump Challenge/25 minutes

Tuesday:    30 minute run

Wednesday:    Pump Challenge/25 minutes

Thursday:    20 minute yoga/45 minute run

Friday:    Pump Challenge/25 minutes

Saturday:    20 minute ab routine/45 minute run

Sunday:    rest

 

 

I am such a creature of habit and so Les Mills Pump really does work for me.  In the past, I have been so guilty of just jumping from program to program not really giving my body time to adjust to them.

I think what I like most about Pump is that I feel strong and fit……It’s not something I am doing to be skinny, which I will never be.
