10 Secret Stressors

Just wanted to pop in to say a quick hello!  I hope that you have a had a wonderful day.  🙂    It actually turned out to be a hot day.  It started out with some overcast, which was cool at first, but then by noon it was hot.  In fact, I had the AC on in my car on the way home and it’s currently on in the house right now.  It’s supposed to be this way for the next week or so….

So what are you doing tonight??  Going to watch the Vice-Presidential Debate??

Lunch:

No picture, but I had 3 oz of chicken, brussels sprouts and half of a banana.

This afternoon I tried a new snack and really loved it…

Raspberry greek yogurt!

Dinner:

For dinner I had one chicken link, one small red potato, and the rest of the brussels sprouts.

Workout:

3 mile run with 3 sets of speed drills.

Mile One:    9.22

Mile Two:    8.44

Mile Three:    9.17

Total time:    27.33

Average pace:    9.07

On tomorrow’s schedule??  2 miles easy pace.

I read the a list today on Yahoo Health about some things that cause stress in our lives that we may not necessarily think that would cause us stress.

  1. Your dog
  2. co-workers
  3. your doctor
  4. your bedroom
  5. your alarm clock
  6. facebook
  7. your keys
  8. your computer
  9. the light in your bathroom
  10. celebrity gossip

I can see why some of them would cause stress, but there were a few that surprised me.  Dog???  If you have a pet that might be sick a lot, or even chew on things constantly, then it might cause unwanted stress and anxiety.

Celebrity gossip??  I wouldn’t have thought about it, but I can see it.  Comparison.  That is all that I am going to say.

Bathroom light?  If the light isn’t flattering and shows some fo the things that you might not want to see….well you get the picture.

The list is worth checking out.. 🙂

Goodnight!

Keeping a Balance

Well I get to enjoy another late day.  With the exception of Monday (thank goodness for the holiday) I have closed every night this week.  I have to work until 6:00 today aaaaand tomorrow.   I am off Saturday and that is a good thing.

After dinner last night, I did some stretching and was pretty much ready to go to bed right after.  🙂  I was out by 10:30 and up this morning by 6:00.  I have a run scheduled this morning and I am pretty excited about getting out there!  Speed drill!!

Since I didn’t post last night, here are the rest of my meals at a glance:

Snack:

Strawberries and 10 pretzels

Lunch:

Chicken wrap with lettuce, spinach and arugula.   Must remember to bring something to add as in sauce…..this was very dry!  Good, but dry!

I also finished up some of my Kale chips.

And had half of a banana….

Dinner:

Steamed brussels sprouts, turkey patty, and one roasted red potato.

So how was your Wednesday?  Are you glad that it’s Thursday??

One of the things that I wanted to work on when I started this training with Cait was also my food portions.  I wanted to take a step back and look at some of the small things that I was sneaking in and not really counting it.  I don’t mean counting calories, because I really don’t like doing that.  I mean, one cookie here, a cookie there.  Specialty coffee’s everyday, a piece of candy there….  I don’t want to completely restrict myself from enjoying these things every now and again, but I also know myself well enough that it’s very hard for me to stop eating/drinking these items once I get started.  I also know that restriction can lead to a big binge so there has to be a balance somewhere and that is something that is a process and different for every person.  🙂

Welp, it’s running time!  I hope you have a great day!

10 hours of sleep? Check!

Holy cow, I was able to get 10 hours of sleep last night.  I don’t exactly know why I was so sleepy, but I must have needed it.  I was in bed by 8, asleep by 8:45 and the did wake up this morning until 6:50!   Crazy!  Like I said, I guess I needed it.  🙂

Yesterday was the 1st of the month, and working in the banking industry, you can only imagine how busy it was.  AGH!   It did make the day go by pretty fast though.

My friend Angey is in town the next couple of days!!!  No secret, she is moving back!!!!  I can’t wait for them to get here so we can spend some time together.  She will be busy during the day these couple of days, but there is a rumor that we may go run tonight!!  I have never ran with anyone, so I am super excited about it.

Without giving you a play by-play, here are some of the eats that I have consumed in the last couple of days.

One pork chop, roasted brussels sprouts, and some sweet potato fries 🙂

This is a Pizookie recipe from Ashley’s page 🙂  My Food ‘N’ Fitness Diaries.  Yum!

Yesterday’s breakfast was a smoothie

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup of frozen cherries
  • 1 tsp of chia seeds
  • 1 cup of 35 cal Almond Milk
  • 1 1/2 tbs of peanut butter
  • 1/2 scoop of protein powder
  • 1 tbs of carob powder

Apparently I have t remind myself of the small things.   😉

Mexican wrap:  Chicken, salsa, and black beans.  It was super yummy, but messy!

Yesterday’s Workout:

BodyRock Rep challenge and 24 minutes of a Firm DVD!  Ouch!!  My shoulders are SO sore this morning.

Today’s Workout:

The Firm DVD Pump, Jump ‘N’ Jab!   All lower body!

Well, I am off to eat some breakfast.  🙂  I hope you have a great day!!

A Gluten Free Cookie!!

Howdy folks!  Before I get to the cookie recipe, let’s get an update on all of the eats I have eaten since the last time I have posted any.  I will be honest, I have stressed a little bit over getting in a post since I have started my class.  Working 40 hours a week and then having packed weekends can lead to zero time to blog or comment on some of my favorites.  This week however, I am not going to stress.  If I can get to a post than I will, but if I have to choose between sleep or blogging, I am going to choose sleep.  🙂  No more stressing!

With that said, here are some of the eats that I have enjoyed over the past couple of days:

Overnight Oats (one of my favorites!)

Last nights dinner: Tilapia, roasted potato’s, and roasted brussels sprouts.

A new snack I found at Kroger: Clif Kid Fruit Rope/Organic and Gluten Free

This mornings breakfast: Thomas 100 Calorie English Muffin, turkey bacon, spinach, one egg/egg whites.  Holy delicious.

Lunch today: leftover roasted brussels sprouts and potato’s, brown rice, turkey sausage, and spinach.  With a tangerine on the side.

One of my favorite blogs (which reminds me, I need to update my favorites) is called Living the Gluten Free Life.  Kelsey put a Gluten free Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe up on her blog the other day that looked super yummy and interesting.  So, tonight I thought that I would give it a try.

The verdict???    I love them!  They are super light and just melt in your mouth.  Don’t worry, I didn’t eat all three.  🙂

Question:  What is your favorite cookie recipe?
