It’s ok to take your shoes off!

Hello!  So it’s been an interesting week thus far.  It’s the last week to reach our goals for the quarter at work so we have been zipping around.

This morning started at 5:15, well actually it started at 4:00.  With the cooler temps, having the AC on isn’t all the necessary, but last night it was kind of muggy and at 4:00 I woke up hot.  I can’t sleep when it’s hot!  I did manage to go back to sleep, but not for very long.

I got up and got my day started with a cup of joe.  Once I was fully awake, I hit the treadmill for 3 miles.  I felt a little tired this morning on my run, so I will be taking a rest day tomorrow.  Trying to listen to my body!

I had to eat breakfast on the way to work….

  • 1 frozen banana
  • frozen blueberries
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp ground flax
  • protein powder
  • almond milk/coconut milk

I have also been spending my lunches here:

It’s been so nice just being out there and having some quiet time.  The weather has been perfect for it too!  I even let my feet enjoy the moment!

A couple of days ago I read this post over at Carrots and Cake and really like it.  One of the things that really stuck out to me is resting.  I am really bad about not getting enough sleep.  Especially lately.  So, this is one thing that I am going to continue to put first for a while.  Last night as I was watching tv I just closed my eyes and that was all she wrote.  This was at 9:45.  I woke up about an hour later and turned the tv off and went back to sleep.

If I want to continue getting up early, having great runs and feeling really great then more sleep it is.

I hope you guys have a great night!

Saturday lovin

How about some Saturday love!   I hope that you are having a great weekend!  I was up at 5:15 and out the door to head to a friend of mine who has so kindly let me use her treadmill.  Um, it’s like running on cotton.  It really is.  🙂  I was kind of worried that I was going to wake her family up this morning, but gratefully I didn’t.

My workout:  4 miles.  Done and done.  When I started my run, I was really expecting my legs to feel like they had bricks tied around them.  That wasn’t the case!  My plan was to just do 3 miles, but I just decided to keep going.  Bam!

Sunday’s workout:  Yoga

I headed back home to get ready for work and felt really thankful that I was able to finish the run.  It’s the small things.

My meal plan today is pretty much up in the air.  Not in a bad way, but it’s just been a busy day!  I had to make a run to Wal-mart today, but instead of doing it after work, I decided to head that way before work.  You know, get it all done!  On my list:

  • almond milk (I was out!)
  • spinach
  • greens
  • strawberries
  • bananas
  • frozen blueberries
  • coffee
  • cream cheese
  • mayo
  • pineapples (tidbits in their own juices)

You know, the essentials.

We are having a movie night at my church tonight and I could not be more excited about it.  We are watching Soul Surfer.  Yay!!  We are also having dinner there and we are having Hawaiian themed food!  I am bringing: fruit, cookies, and a Hawaiian chicken salad.

On my way home from my run this morning I was able to watch the sun come up….

I really need to wash my car!   🙂

Things I am going to do today:

  • I am going to love myself today
  • not going to sweat the small stuff
  • not let someones negativity affect my attitude
  • smile

I read the best post the other day on Courtney’s blog Sweet Tooth Sweet Life.  Go check it out, you won’t regret it.

My friend and her family were out and about the other day and her son was so stoked to meet this guy:

Colton Haynes from Teenwolf

My friend said he was SUPER nice!  He even waited outside for her son because he was too scared to go up and ask him for a photo.  Sweet guy!

Later!! Hope you have a great weekend!!

And We’re Off!!

Morning!!!   I really can’t believe this day is finally here!   Ahhhh, vacation is a beautiful thing!   This break is something that I have been looking forward to for a long time now.  I don’t want to say that I need a break from life, because you just can’t do that, but I do feel like I need a break.  Ever just feel like you want to take a step back, examine your surroundings, see what is true and see what isn’t.  Check your motive and also check your attitude.

Yesterday was just a blur for me.  I tell ya, I don’t even remember waiting on customers.  🙂

Thursdays Breakfast:

My blender at home is fried, so I took my ingredients to work with me and once things settled down I made the following:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup of frozen cherries
  • 1 tbsp of chia seeds
  • 1 square of 85% dark chocolate
  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • 2 scoops of Visalus

Holy cow this was good!

I also enjoyed a nice cup of joe 🙂

Thursday’s lunch:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup of frozen blueberries
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2 scoops of Visalus

After work, I was anxious to get home and finish packing my suit cases.  Jason and Lynn and of course the kiddo’s were coming by to see my parents who have come home while I am away.  I also had a friend of mine stop by on her way to get some grub to bring me some long-sleeved shirts to take on the trip.  Isn’t she awesome!  My nephew and her son Calvin had the best time!

Aren’t they adorable!

We are all super excited about the trip!!

This is a tree that we all thought for dead that actually looks like a Cross.  Pretty cool huh?  🙂

Life is so hard sometimes.  😉

Workout:

Well, I did something that I haven’t done in a long time.  I ran.  I got on the treadmill and took off!  I had forgotten how much I really like running.  🙂

Did anyone else watch Rock Center with Brian Williams???   Oscar Pistorius from South Africa was on one of the segments and it was really cool to watch.  He is a sprinter and hopes to make the Olympic team and go to London.  Here’s the catch.  He was born without the lower part of his legs.  It was a very inspirational story of how you shouldn’t let anything hold you back or make you feel any different, other than the way you are.

Well, you guys have an awesome day!!  The hotels that we are staying at and our final destination in Custer has wifi!!  Yay!!

🙂

No internet?? What?

Well, I was without internet last night and part of today, but it’s no big thang! The DSL box simply went bad and the lovely people at Windstream came right out and gave me a new one!  I had my second Orthodontist appointment yesterday and it went really well!  I am one step closer to getting the metal on my teeth.

When I got there, they were really quick to get me in the back to get started.  This trip was mainly to take pictures of my teeth, and take some impressions of my teeth for the mouthpiece that I will wear for six months.  It was kind of funny, you’re in this big room with all of the other patients and you have your mouth wide open and you are afraid you are going to gag on the biscuit dough that is in your mouth!

Have you ever seen the episode of King of Queens where Doug goes to the dentist??  That stuff that they use to get the impressions makes me want to gag!!

Here is some of what I ate yesterday:

After my appointment, I went to my favorite place in the world.  🙂   Just a regular coffee with some skim milk.  Yum!

I also did some yard work yesterday and it took about 3 hours!  Once I was finished, and cooled off, I made a new smoothie.

Blueberry Smoothie:

  • 1 cup of frozen blueberries
  • Lite sugar Raspberry/Lemonade drink 1/2 cup
  • 1/2 cup of Almond milk
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 2 scoops of Visalus
  • 5 ice cubes

When my alarm went off this morning, I literally thought that I was dreaming.  I wasn’t.  😦  I drank some water to hydrate myself and then made me a cup of coffee.  A little later, I made myself some breakfast.

One egg, egg whites, spinach, turkey sausage, and one Udi’s multi-grain bagel.

Lunch:

Cafe Latte Smoothie:

  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • 1/3 frozen banana
  • 1 tbsp of instant coffee
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 5-6 cubes of ice

This one was not my favorite by any means.  Which really surprised me, because I love the taste of coffee.  🙂   This smoothie was also just (and I mean just) over 200 calories and did not fill me up.  A little later I grabbed one of Luna’s peanut butter and chocolate protein bars.  Yum and yum.

Dinner:

I was really in the mood to cook something when I got home and this is what I came up with.  I purchased a Spaghetti Squash the other day and so I cut it up, wrapped it up and put it in the microwave for 10 minutes.  I had some organic sauce and I also made some turkey meat to go with it.   To top it off, I roasted up some asparagus.  This meal was amazing!

Workout:

I didn’t know what I wanted to do and even walked around the house looking at all of the DVD’s that I had.  Nothing.  I thought about going outside and going for a run.  Nope.  Hmmm???   I eventually settled on one of Bob’s workouts.  Ultimate Cardio workout!  A full hour of sweat dripping from my face workout is what it was!

I hope you have a great night!

Behind Your Smile

Sorry to be MIA the last couple of days, but I thought that I would take a break while I was sick to rest up.  I finally broke down and went to the dr today.  As much as I hate being sick, I hate going to the doctor even more.  I really didn’t want to spend 5 minutes with a someone and pay $25 to do it.  Then there’s the meds.  I can barely take my vitamins!!

Breakfast:

When I finally ended up having breakfast this morning, I made a new smoothie

Blueberry Pie:

  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 cup of frozen blueberries
  • 2 scoops of Visalus
  • 1 cup of Almond milk
  • 2 tbsp of graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 tsp vanilla abstract
  • 2 ice cubes
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

Lunch:

Cherry Orange Delight:

  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 cup of dark frozen cherries
  • 1/2 cup of orange juice
  • 1/2 cup of almond milk
  • 2 scoops of Visalus
  • 2 ice cubes
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

Here’s another smoothie recipe:

Cranberry Dreams:

  • 1/2 cup of Cranberry juice
  • 1/2 cup of Almond milk
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 scoops of Visalus
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

So I am up to season 5 of Desperate Housewives.  It really is a guilty pleasure.  🙂  Anyway, one of the episodes Season 4 got me to thinking.  It focused on people’s smile.  Smiles can hide so much, or be a window into someones soul.  Smiles can express elation, but can also hide pain.  Do you smile when you first meet someone?  When your nervous, do you smile?  When you encourage someone, is there a smile behind it?  Ever get embarrassed?  I love the smile behind an embarrassing moment.

A smile can make someone relax.

A smile can put someones nerves at ease.

A smile can encourage a friend.

A smile can turn a “no” into “yes”

A smile can lead to infectious laughter.

A smile can open a lonely heart.

See you tomorrow!
