Happy Halloween!

Well hello there!   As I type this up I am baking some Halloween cookies!   I got the recipe from Brown Eyed Baker.  Monster cookies!

Did you have a good day?   My day actually ended at noon today so I was pretty happy about that.  I didn’t get my run in this morning so I got right on the treadmill right when I got home.  This week mother nature has hit pretty hard and my “visitor” is giving me headaches and making me a grumpy person in the morning.  I hope to be back to normal by the end of this week!  It’s amazing how that little thing throws your entire week off!  (if there are any men reading….sorry!!)

Workout:

Today I had a 4 mile run on the schedule and couldn’t wait to do it!  Like I said, this morning was a no go, but by the time I got home I was ready for it!

Mile One:     9.08

Mile Two:    8.54

Mile Three:    8.45

Mile Four:    8.45

Total time:    35:30

Average Pace:    8.50

I did some stretching when I was finished and then I like the song so much that I was listening to, I got my grove on.  🙂

Breakfast:

I really wanted some oatmeal this morning, so I grabbed a bag and added 1 tbsp of almond butter.  I also wanted an egg and some grapes…

For my snack this morning I grabbed a banana and some pumpkin spiced pecans that I had made earlier in the week..

This really hit the spot!

After my run I jumped in the shower and cleaned up and then made myself a smoothie for lunch.  I added all the fabulous nutrients:

  • 1 cup of 30 Calorie almond milk
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup of frozen cherries
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • scoop of protein powder
  • and a large handful of spinach

No picture…..sorry!!  It was good though. 😉

I am working on dinner right now… 😉

Dinner:

One chicken link, steamed veggies, and one red potato.  Yum yum and yum.

Cookies!!

So while I was typing all of this up, the cookies are done!!

I think they turned out pretty good.  The house smells wonderful!  You really must make these cookies!  I haven’t tried one yet, but they sure smell good.

Where I live at, we don’t have very many kiddo’s that come by for some candy on Halloween, but every year I think we gain at least one or two more kids.  So I ran by the store and grabbed a bag of candy….  Not good that it’s in the house, but whatever is left I am taking to work tomorrow and I am forcing it on the customers.  Really, I am.

Happy Halloween guys!!

Normal Tuesday

Morning!  How are you this morning?  I had another great sleep last night and I am really really glad.  So I had a smoothie for breakfast this morning.  Something I really like to do.  🙂  One of the main reasons that I like to is because I can add just about anything to it and not change the taste, for the most part. 😉  Take the one I had this morning:

  • frozen banana
  • frozen cherries
  • chia seeds
  • protein powder
  • carob powder
  • PB2

You can also add spinach or kale or any kind of green.  I love that you can add so many essential things to a smoothie;  fruits and veggies, omega 3’s and good fats, greens, protein…..the possibilities are endless!

Meal plan:

Breakfast:    Smoothie/coffee

Snack:    cherries

Lunch:    salad with: chicken, walnuts, strawberries.  Yum!

Snack:    Clementine

Dinner:    Chicken, red potatoes, steamed veggies

Snack:  Not sure yet!

Workout:

Yoga

Looks like a normal Tuesday for me folks!  My goal is to stick to the meal plan and have a super day!  Hope you have a wonderful day!!

And We’re Off!!

Morning!!!   I really can’t believe this day is finally here!   Ahhhh, vacation is a beautiful thing!   This break is something that I have been looking forward to for a long time now.  I don’t want to say that I need a break from life, because you just can’t do that, but I do feel like I need a break.  Ever just feel like you want to take a step back, examine your surroundings, see what is true and see what isn’t.  Check your motive and also check your attitude.

Yesterday was just a blur for me.  I tell ya, I don’t even remember waiting on customers.  🙂

Thursdays Breakfast:

My blender at home is fried, so I took my ingredients to work with me and once things settled down I made the following:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup of frozen cherries
  • 1 tbsp of chia seeds
  • 1 square of 85% dark chocolate
  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • 2 scoops of Visalus

Holy cow this was good!

I also enjoyed a nice cup of joe 🙂

Thursday’s lunch:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup of frozen blueberries
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2 scoops of Visalus

After work, I was anxious to get home and finish packing my suit cases.  Jason and Lynn and of course the kiddo’s were coming by to see my parents who have come home while I am away.  I also had a friend of mine stop by on her way to get some grub to bring me some long-sleeved shirts to take on the trip.  Isn’t she awesome!  My nephew and her son Calvin had the best time!

Aren’t they adorable!

We are all super excited about the trip!!

This is a tree that we all thought for dead that actually looks like a Cross.  Pretty cool huh?  🙂

Life is so hard sometimes.  😉

Workout:

Well, I did something that I haven’t done in a long time.  I ran.  I got on the treadmill and took off!  I had forgotten how much I really like running.  🙂

Did anyone else watch Rock Center with Brian Williams???   Oscar Pistorius from South Africa was on one of the segments and it was really cool to watch.  He is a sprinter and hopes to make the Olympic team and go to London.  Here’s the catch.  He was born without the lower part of his legs.  It was a very inspirational story of how you shouldn’t let anything hold you back or make you feel any different, other than the way you are.

Well, you guys have an awesome day!!  The hotels that we are staying at and our final destination in Custer has wifi!!  Yay!!

🙂

It’s about that time!

Well, it’s official…….today is my Friday!!   Just got to get through this day and we will be headed to South Dakota!  I am so excited!  I am not sure what I am more excited about.  Just getting away? Sleeping in?  Being around my niece and nephew?  Getting into a bathing suit and not caring who sees me?  Not wearing make-up every day??  The reasons to be excited are endless!!

Mt Rushmore and the Badlands of South Dakota.

The weather while we are there is going to be fantastic!!!  The high on two of the days will just be 70, all of the rest of the days in the mid 60’s, with the nights in the low to high 40’s!!!   Crazy awesome!  No humidity!!

Let’s get on with it!!  Morning!!  🙂  I hope that your Wednesday was super!  I came home from work, which was a nice 10 hours, and tried to put the finishing touches on the packing situation.  I think that I am finished with the exception of a few items.  Won’t fully finish until the morning we leave.

Well it’s finally happened.  A smoothie fail.  Ugh, I hate to even admit it.  I wanted to try something new yesterday on my lunch break, so I threw together this combo:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • frozen cherries
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 2 scoops Visalus
  • 1/2 cup of plain almond milk
  • 1/2 cup of dark chocolate almond milk
  • 1 tsp of peppermint extract

Um, let’s just say that there was too much peppermint extract in there.  I couldn’t even finish it!!!  And it’s not like I could take the stuff out!!

Dinner:

You take a few of these….

toss some of this on there…..

Place them on one of these……

The end result!!   Please don’t hate on the plain turkey burger… 🙂  Since I will be leaving Friday, I am trying to get rid of some things in the house.  I am out of greens!  It was still good, plain, but good.

I saw this great post on one of my favorite blogs the other day.  Clean Eating Chelsey     Self-bashing.  I think that we are all guilty of it, but this post really got me thinking of how hard I am on myself and sometimes down right horrible when it comes to self-bashing.  The post was originally written by Nescett, who blogs at bananaoats.   It’s worth the read!

Breakfast:

Um, my blender completely fried at work yesterday.  Making the said smoothie above……:/   Thankfully, one of the other ladies that I work with had left her blender in our break room.  Go team!  So I am thinking that I will bum hers when I get to work this morning.

Some of the things that I will be doing to prepare for my trip will be done this afternoon and I have made a list so that I don’t forget!!

  1. wash clothes so that I don’t have to do it when I get home from the trip
  2. change out my sheets so I will have clean sheets to sleep on when I get home!
  3. go over my suitcases 500 times
  4. and then go over them one more time
  5. get my snacks together, which will be:  Annie’s homegrown Chocolate graham bunnies, mini Energy clif bars, roasted almonds and I am picking up some fruit today!
  6. pack up toiletries
  7. and workout  😉

Question:  When was the last time that you went on vacation?  Aaaand, what are some of the quirky things that you do to prepare for said trip?

I am sure that I will be checking in with ya later!!  Have a great day! 🙂

Behind Your Smile

Sorry to be MIA the last couple of days, but I thought that I would take a break while I was sick to rest up.  I finally broke down and went to the dr today.  As much as I hate being sick, I hate going to the doctor even more.  I really didn’t want to spend 5 minutes with a someone and pay $25 to do it.  Then there’s the meds.  I can barely take my vitamins!!

Breakfast:

When I finally ended up having breakfast this morning, I made a new smoothie

Blueberry Pie:

  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 cup of frozen blueberries
  • 2 scoops of Visalus
  • 1 cup of Almond milk
  • 2 tbsp of graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 tsp vanilla abstract
  • 2 ice cubes
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

Lunch:

Cherry Orange Delight:

  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 cup of dark frozen cherries
  • 1/2 cup of orange juice
  • 1/2 cup of almond milk
  • 2 scoops of Visalus
  • 2 ice cubes
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

Here’s another smoothie recipe:

Cranberry Dreams:

  • 1/2 cup of Cranberry juice
  • 1/2 cup of Almond milk
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 scoops of Visalus
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

So I am up to season 5 of Desperate Housewives.  It really is a guilty pleasure.  🙂  Anyway, one of the episodes Season 4 got me to thinking.  It focused on people’s smile.  Smiles can hide so much, or be a window into someones soul.  Smiles can express elation, but can also hide pain.  Do you smile when you first meet someone?  When your nervous, do you smile?  When you encourage someone, is there a smile behind it?  Ever get embarrassed?  I love the smile behind an embarrassing moment.

A smile can make someone relax.

A smile can put someones nerves at ease.

A smile can encourage a friend.

A smile can turn a “no” into “yes”

A smile can lead to infectious laughter.

A smile can open a lonely heart.

See you tomorrow!
