It’s ok to take your shoes off!

Hello!  So it’s been an interesting week thus far.  It’s the last week to reach our goals for the quarter at work so we have been zipping around.

This morning started at 5:15, well actually it started at 4:00.  With the cooler temps, having the AC on isn’t all the necessary, but last night it was kind of muggy and at 4:00 I woke up hot.  I can’t sleep when it’s hot!  I did manage to go back to sleep, but not for very long.

I got up and got my day started with a cup of joe.  Once I was fully awake, I hit the treadmill for 3 miles.  I felt a little tired this morning on my run, so I will be taking a rest day tomorrow.  Trying to listen to my body!


I had to eat breakfast on the way to work….

  • 1 frozen banana
  • frozen blueberries
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp ground flax
  • protein powder
  • almond milk/coconut milk

It’s been so nice just being out there and having some quiet time.  The weather has been perfect for it too!  I even let my feet enjoy the moment!


A couple of days ago I read this post over at Carrots and Cake and really like it.  One of the things that really stuck out to me is resting.  I am really bad about not getting enough sleep.  Especially lately.  So, this is one thing that I am going to continue to put first for a while.  Last night as I was watching tv I just closed my eyes and that was all she wrote.  This was at 9:45.  I woke up about an hour later and turned the tv off and went back to sleep.

If I want to continue getting up early, having great runs and feeling really great then more sleep it is.

First run in a month…

Hello!!  I trust your day is going well??  My day started at 4:00 this morning, yes, I said 4:00.   Apparently that is what time cats get up.  I didn’t get the memo.  🙂  So, I tossed for about an hour and decided to just go ahead and get up.


The Firm Bootcamp Maximum Calorie Burn.   It’s nearly a full hour of a mix of cardio and strength.  Once I finished and completely cooled off I headed to the kitchen for the overnight oats that I had put together the night before.

This is probably one of my favorite meals for breakfast.

In the mix:

1/3 cup of old fashion oats

1 tsp of chia seeds

1 tsp of ground flax

1 tbsp of wheat berries

1 cup of, half chocolate lite soy milk/vanilla almond milk

1 spoonful of All Natural Peanut Butter

Here’s what you do:

Put all of the above ingredients in some sort of container with a lid that you can store in the refrigerator overnight.  Once you are ready to eat in the morning, all you have to do is grab a spoon and give it a stir!  It’s so good!!  And perfect after a hard workout.

My afternoon snack at work today was my usual.  I almost don’t want to post the picture…..almost. 🙂

Strawberry Greek yogurt with granola.

I don’t think I have told you the story of my running experience and I really won’t bore you with every detail.  🙂  I started back in the summer and had worked up to being able to run 6.5 miles.  If you knew me, you would know that this was HUGE for me.  Somewhere along the way I pulled a muscle, or two, in my stomach.  I kept working out, and it kept getting worse.  I went to the Dr. to rule a few things out and then ultimately made the decision to not run for the entire month of December.  Well, today was my first day back in my running shoes.  I went to the track that is at our local highschool to give it a go.

I ended up doing just over 2 miles and I had to walk run to get my legs under me.  It did feel pretty good to run again.  While I was there this dude and his dad, or maybe it was his coach, got on the track to do some sprints.  I told the young guy, “don’t let me intimidate you or anything.”  It was funny……to me.  🙂  He did laugh though.  Is it just me, but don’t you just hate running knowing that you butt shakes??  Maybe it’s just me??  lol!

Once I got home I was pretty hungry and went with one of my favorites…

Thomas English Muffin, with a banana, and peanut butter.  Super cool combo!  I also had a shadow. 🙂

Sweet girl!

Lynn (SNL) came by to pick the kids up and we got to talking about the trip this summer to South Dakota.  We are getting pretty excited about it!  Just some of the places that we are planning to see are; Wounded Knee, Custer State Park, Badlands National Park, Crazy Horse Memorial, Mt Rushmore, and so much more!  There are also a couple of coffee shops that I am hoping we stop at too. 😉  I can’t wait!
