Happy Hump Day!

 

Ahhh, coffee.

 

How was your Tuesday?  Anything new happen to you?  My ended with a quick 1.4 mile run.  Came home and then finished up the lawn.  Something I wanted to get done before the weekend.

 

 

 

I tried something different with lunch yesterday and I wanted to share it with you!

I took the following:

  • Chobani Vanilla Greek yogurt
  • granola
  • chocolate dreams nut butter
  • 1/2 of a red delicious apple

I chopped the apple up (with skin) and put it in the bottom of the bowl, added the yogurt, added the granola, and then drizzled the nut butter on top.  This was so good!

 

 

 

The weather is absolutely gorgeous here today!  It’s cool and breezy!  I stepped outside and was like….ahhhh.  🙂  We are supposed to get some of the rain from the hurricane, so this weekend it will be rainy.  I’ll take the beautiful weather when I can get it!

 

This breakfast sandwich was so good this morning!

 

I took one egg, two slices of turkey bacon, one slice of gouda cheese and I added it all to an english muffin.

 

 

How are you going to spend your Wednesday?  I will be at work until 6:00 and then it’s off to church.

Sugar cravings 101

Hello, hello!  How’s everybody doing tonight?  I hope you are fantastic!  Finishing the day?  Just starting it?  Wherever you are, I hope you are excited about life.

My job can be hit or miss when it comes to being busy.  Yesterday, busy.  Today, not so much.  🙂  Makes for a long day. 

When lunch time rolled around, one of the girls ran to Subway and picked us up some sandwiches.

A little while later I chomped on some chocolate…:)

While I was at work today, I kept thinking about having a salad for dinner.  This is something that I should do more often, but never do. 

In the mix: Romaine lettuce, spinach, chicken, red delicious apple, and some walnuts.  I also used some Raspberry vinaigrette for the dressing.

I found this recipe on another blog today and thought this would be the perfect way to end the night.  The blog is called STUFT Mama.   The Mighty Chocolate microwave muffin!

I also added some PB2 on top of the muffin and it was yummy!

Sugar 101:

Lately I have noticed that some of the things that I am reaching for have been loaded with sugar.  My poison this week has been Starburst Jelly beans.  They only sell these things around Easter, and I am never strong enough to pass up a bag…..or two.  I am by no means against indulging.  Frankly, without indulging I wouldn’t have lost a majority of my weight.  Here’s the things.  Once I start, it’s really hard to stop.  I could make a meal on a plate full of candy.  Crazy I know.  So I got to looking to see what things I could do to help me with the sugar cravings.  Here is what I found.

  • Our bodies actually craves sugar
  • Chew some gum
  • combine foods (banana/chocolate, apple/peanut butter)
  • Quit cold turkey
  • Grab some fruit
  • It’s ok to indulge, but keep it small
  • eat more often throughout the day
  • no artificial sweeteners
  • Reward yourself
  • Slow down (check your emotions when you reach for sugar)
  • Get support
  • Mix it up by trying different approaches weekly

I am probably best at quiting something cold turkey.  I am an all or nothing kinda gal when it comes to indulgences.  It’s a gift…………..and a curse. 

I am off tomorrow and I am taking a road trip with my mom and my second mom!  Super stoked!
