August Goals

Morning Friends!!  How was your night?  Sleep well??   Let’s back up a couple of days….I can’t believe it’s August!  Holy Cow, where has the year gone??  I can’t believe that there are only 5 months left in the year.  Pretty soon we will be shopping for Christmas gifts!

I am your strength and shield.  I  plan out each day and have it ready for you, long before you arise from bed.

August Goals:

So I have been thinking about some goals that I would like to set for myself.  I wanted them to be realistic and something that I could and will reach.  It’s funny, I am so goal oriented and task oriented at work, but sometimes I fly by the seat of my pants when I am not at work.  🙂  This can be a good thing, but it can also mean that some of the goals that I make for myself get swept under the rug.  I don’t want to do that!

  1. Push-up challenge.  I started this challenge a few days ago and I want to keep doing it.  I started with 10 push-ups and each day I add one more.  I am up to 17.  This is not a lot, but I want to do them correctly, not just rush through them.
  2. Carbs.  I really want to watch my carb intake.  More specifically, simple carbs.
  3. Continue to build endurance when it comes to running.  To be honest, I never thought in a million years that I could whip out 4 miles!
  4. Yoga.  Still continue to increase my flexibility and take care of my muscles.

These are things that I have been working on for a bit now, but just wanted to write them down.  🙂   Looking at the list, it doesn’t seem like a whole lot, but that is ok with me.  🙂

Meal Plan:

Breakfast:    egg/turkey bacon/toast

snack:    protein bar or greek yogurt

Lunch:    turkey burger (minus the bun) with spinach and provolone cheese/steamed broccoli

snack:    cherries

Dinner:   dinner out

Snack:   probably not have one

After work tonight, I am meeting a friend and we are going out to eat and then to a movie!  Step Up Revolution.  Can’t wait!!

Have a great day!!

Figuring it out

Morning peeps!  I hope that this Hump Day is going to be fantastic for you!  I actually love Wednesdays.  Just two more days until the weekend!  This Saturday we are having a Block Party at my church for the kiddo’s in our community.  We are going to be doing lots of super cool things, handing out school supplies, and teaching them about Christ.

I also have plans Friday night to go hang out with a friend and watch Step Up Revolution.  I cannot wait!!  I am bringing my dancing shoes.  I really am.  I mean, I should have gotten a call to be in the movie, I am not sure why I didn’t.  I must have been in a dead zone or something.  He he.  :p

Snack:   cherries (cause I love ’em!)

Lunch:    Smoothie

Snack:   clementine

Dinner:   chicken, veggies, apple

Gettin my run on this morning!   On the schedule?  2.5 miles.  I am going to head to my friend’s house to use  her treadmill.  Ahh, I love it.

I wanted to share with you what was in my devotion yesterday morning.  I really love this…

I am with you always.  These were the last words that I spoke before ascending into heaven.  I continue to proclaim this promise to all who will listen.  The fact that I am with you makes every moment of your life meaningful.

I love the fact that He was thinking of me when the world was being created, while He was on the Cross, and before He went to Heaven.  It give me so much purpose and tells me I have a huge responsibility when it comes to living my life.

How to find the right exercise program:

I am no expert and I am not a personal trainer, but I am the only one that knows my body.  For the last, oh good Lord, 6 to 8 months I have struggled with a few things concerning my diet and exercise.  Finding out that my Vitamin D was really low was a huge weight off of my mind.  It’s not what it should be, but I know it can only get better.  During that time, I couldn’t seem to find out what worked for me anymore.  Which was really frustrating, because I thought that it was easy for me.  It’s not.  :/   Anyhoo, I tried several different things and nothing seemed to work.  I just wanted to throw my hands up and scream like a little kid!  To be honest, reading all of these blogs can sometimes have an opposite effect on me.  I love the ones that I follow and can’t wait to read them…..daily……..But, I want to be myself and I was finding myself less than stellar after I would read them.  After reading Courtney’s post on her blog the other day, it got me to thinking.  I don’t want to portray that living this lifestyle is easy.  I struggle just like the next person when it comes seeing what works for me and what doesn’t.  I struggle with motivation, focus, and making good choices when it comes to food.

I wanted to share with you some of the things that I look for in an exercise program.

  • Set some goals.  Setting some goals can actually help you determine what program you chose.  Lose weight, tone, strengthen and even gain weight.
  • Seek out a professional.  I haven’t done this yet, but I really want to.  I had forgotten that a friend of mine had introduced me to a personal trainer a while back.  I saw something on Facebook about her and so I thought that I would shoot her a message to see if I could meet with her!  She said sure!!  She owns a Curves now, but she said that I could definitely come there and she would talk to me……and workout!
  • Know your limits.  Don’t feel bad if all that you can do is walk.  Walking is one of the most beneficial exercises that you can do.  I love it personally and you can really think about things when you do it.
  • Determine if you want to join a gym or stick to your home.  I personally love working out at my home….Mainly due to the fact that I have privacy.  With that said, I do think that working out with a group or surrounding yourself with like-minded people could motivate you.
  • Make a plan to get the workout in.  I am a true believer that we have more time to fit a 30 minute workout in than we think that we do.  You just have to make up your mind to do it.  Think about how bad you want to do it and what you want to accomplish.
  • Don’t forget to love yourself.  Take one day at a time and don’t be so hard on yourself.

**I in no way want to push my ideas on anyone.  These are just my opinions and what has worked for me.  It’s so important to find out what works for you and run with it! 🙂 **

I hope you have a great day!

Eventful day!

Morning!   Man! Yesterday was an eventful day!    Where do I start?  I headed into work this morning and on my way in there was someone on the side of the road in her car.  For a second I thought…hmm?  What in the world??  Just to make sure that she was ok, I turned around and headed back in her direction to make sure that she was ok.  She was.  There were two other guys walking down a connected road and she had moved the car in there direction.  I really thought she was sleeping.  Or worse.

Running.  For the past few weeks I have been running and I am really loving it.  Well, my treadmill died.  No, it really really died.  It won’t even turn on.  It is like 200 hundred years old.  Well, luckily I have a friend that has a brand spankin new one!  I am literally the first person to use it.  🙂  I am really enjoying running on a treadmill, but I may have to run on the road a bit too.  The reason that I don’t?  I live in the woods.  One word.  Snakes.      I just had a 2.5 mile run planned.  Done and done.

Let me back up a bit.  On my way to my friend’s house, there were some ladies on the side of the road with a flat tire.  In the heat!  They were headed to a convention in a nearby town an hour a way.  They were in dresses.  Did I mention it was hot??  I was in my running gear and um…..felt awkward….underdressed so to speak.  hehe.  A kind gentleman did finally stop to help get the tire changed and all is well.

Meal plan:

Breakfast:  egg/turkey bacon/ toast

Snack:    cherries

Lunch:    salad

Snack:    clementine

Dinner:    Not sure yet.  I scratched the dinner last night for a smoothie.  Wasn’t very hungry

Snack:  cherries

So what is on your agenda today??

Work?   Sleep?  Yard work?  Grocery shopping?  Vacationing??

Whatever you are doing, I hope you have a great day!

Let’s get this party started!

Ahhh Monday!  I have been waiting for you all weekend and here you are.  🙂  So let’s get this day started.  Let’s choose to have a positive attitude and lift each other up.  I am only working half a day and not really sure what I will do for the rest of the day.  I found out last week that Little Rock just opened a Dunkin Donuts.  Holy Cow!!  How did I not know this??!  Probably because I don’t get over to where it was built a lot.  I think I may make the trek over to check it out while everyone else is working.  🙂  Any suggestions on what to get??  I am thinking iced coffee, but not sure if I want any flavoring in it.

Meal Plan for today:

Breakfast:    egg/turkey bacon burrito

Snack:   uber Bananas Foster from Larabar

Lunch:    Salad with the following; greens, walnuts, feta cheese, chicken, and cherries on the side

Snack:  Clementine

Dinner:  Salmon/red potatoes/broccoli

Snack:  Not sure if I will have one, but if I do it will be tasty!

Run 2 miles and upper body.  My plan was to get up this morning and get my run in, but that didn’t happen.  Not because I didn’t feel good, but mainly because I slept so great!  I did a 35 minute yoga session last night a couple of hours before I went to sleep and it knocked me out!

I stuck with the meal plan and had an egg/turkey bacon burrito with this new flatbread that I picked up.

A while back I picked up a couple of these new Larabar’s and thought that I would give it a try today as my snack.  All in all I was pretty pleased with the taste.  As you can see, the ingredients are all natural. 🙂  I will have to get some more of these. 🙂

In the bible study last night it asked us to list 5 things that we are grateful for and I wanted to share them with you!

  • Breath
  • my feet
  • family
  • His word
  • friends

What are five things that you are grateful for this awesome Monday??

Last week of March? Crazy!!

I can’t believe that this month is almost over!  I am setting here catching up on Dancing with the Stars and William and Cheryl did amazing!  I have yet to pick a favorite yet though.  🙂

I started the second book in the Hunger Games series and this book is just as good.  I literally can’t put it down.  😉  I am half-way thru and can’t wait to start the last book and sad at the same time when I do finally start it.

I have two vacation days coming this week, I might go check out the movie Hunger Games one of those days.

I was in the mood for some eggs and bacon this morning.  Turkey bacon and two organic eggs.

For lunch I ran down to Subway, which is right near where I work, and grabbed a sandwich and some chips.  Honey Wheat with roasted chicken, lettuce, spinach, pickles and spicy mustard.

I also read a bit while I was at lunch too.  🙂

Ever hear of Jessica Smith?  I ordered one of her DVD’s to give it a try, and let me say it did not disappoint.  Holy cow!  There are three levels on the DVD: 20 minute arms, 20 minute legs, and 20 minute abs.  I decided on the arms and leg portion and got my grove on!  The total workout took 47 minutes.  Ouch!  I really liked it and plan on using it quite a bit.  All you need for this workout is a mat (or carpet) and some hand weights.

Can I just say the last couple of weeks have flown by to me.  I have been doing my workouts at night, so it’s usually nearly when I finally get settled, showered, and ready to eat dinner.  This is something that I don’t really like doing…..eating so late.  I usually just end up eating a bowl of cereal or a bowl of oatmeal.  Not a real healthy meal at all.

Question:  What is your favorite meal for dinner?  And……If you are running short on time, what types of meals do you go for?

Sleep tight!! 🙂
